After an exciting weekend of bidding, Salcedo Auctions opened its auction season with three sales that garnered extraordinary results. Its newest sale category, Philippine Tribal & Ethnographic Art, started off the sales on Saturday, 12 March, 11am with several lots selling past their published estimates including a rare Kalinga shield from the late 19th century which sold for almost triple its estimate at PHP 221,920.00. The country's top art collectors and connoisseurs, including Lito and Kim Camacho, Raul and Joanna Francisco, Randy and Irene Francisco, Maria Closa, Mariana Zobel Aboitiz, and Ramon Antonio, were in attendance to bid for the amazing collections that went under the hammer over the weekend. Another highlight of the auction was a prized collection composed of national artist, Benedicto Cabrera, belonging to the artist's former wife, Caroline Kennedy. The cocktail reception was hosted by major partner, Credit Suisse, with Philippine Tatler as media partner.
