Hidilyn Diaz

This 26-year-old weightlifter is a success story worth sharing. She represented the Philippines in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 summer Olympics. In last year’s Summer Games she became the first Filipino to win a medal in 20 years, taking home the silver. An athlete motivated and determined to succeed, Hidilyn let nothing stand in her way. She competed in the Southeast Asian Games winning two silvers and one bronze. Then in the Asian Championships, she took home one gold and one bronze, and at the World Championships in Houston, she got the bronze. Hidilyn is the first Filipina weightlifter to enter the Olympics and the first Filipina to compete in consecutive Olympic games.
