Bathing Suite

This Christmas, give yourself or your loved ones the gift of a well-appointed personal space

Imagine this: gentle waves lapping at the shore, a lighthouse towering over the coast as if reaching for the perfect blue sky, and a picturesque beach house by the sea. It’s a scene that conveys a sense of peace—bringing a kind of tranquility that can serve as a source of inspiration.

Cape Cod—a region located on the east coast of the US—is famous for sandy beaches that stretch for miles, with waters clear as crystal. The serene yet untamed natural landscape of the Cape inspired prolific French designer Philippe Starck to create an eponymous collection for Duravit, reinventing the bathroom in the process.

The Cape Cod bathroom range blurs the line between nature and the indoors through a harmony of design and aesthetic elements. Ceramic washbowls have distinctly thin edges, bathtubs are perfectly coordinated, and bathroom furniture can stand alone or mixed and matched seamlessly.

The exclusive basins are produced from a specially developed high-strength ceramic mass called DuraCeram, with an elegant finish. This material makes it possible to create countertop basins with a rim thickness of just five millimetres. These basins come in three different shapes—round, square, and tri-oval—and are extremely easy to maintain, amazingly sturdy and impact-resistant.

Meanwhile, the consoles with shelves come in such a timelessly modern design, taking advantage of the contrast between the floor-standing frame in cool, smooth chrome, and four exclusive wood finishes—vintage oak, American walnut, European oak, and white beech. The vintage oak version, in particular, is reminiscent of a ship’s plank that has been weathered by storms and washed ashore on the beach. It features a visibly irregular edge, giving it a distinctive look. An alternative to the wood finishes comes in the form of high-gloss white, which is also available with doors and shelves on the side. Rounding out the set is a minimalist rectangular mirror that can be installed with LED illumination for a completely coordinated wash area.

Cape Cod also offers bathtubs that were designed with relaxation in mind. From the gently curved headrest to the usage of a new material called DuraSolid A that’s responsible for the matte appearance and gives off a warm feel, these tubs put comfort at the top of its list of characteristics. It comes in two forms: as a free-standing model and as a back-to-wall and left or right corner version, whichever fits the layout. The bathtub can also be equipped with a discreetly integrated air whirl system and a sound system that can be operated using a Bluetooth-compatible device.

For an even more seamless bathroom experience, the programme can be combined with any toilets and bidets from the Starck 1, Starck 2, and ME by Starck collections.

The Cape Cod collection brings into the bathroom the natural beauty of the sky, sand, and sea as translated into simple but inventive flourishes by a world-renowned designer. With this, nature becomes a permanent part of your bathroom, a place for rejuvenation and refreshment.
