In the light of the sudden and extensive flooding in Cagayan De Oro, the area has been declared to be in a state of calamity (Tuesday, January 17, 2017). The DSWD has always been involved in helping improve the lives of the Filipino people. To date their Disaster Relief program was able to provide around 2M pesos worth of assistance.

Gawad Kalinga has consequently provided relief services and efforts for typhoon-affected areas of the Philippines. Although the Cagayan De Oro calamity was not directly caused by a typhoon but rather torrential low pressure area rainfall, the Gawad Kalinga foundation will be surely glad to accommodate any donations for the relief of damaged areas.
