It took 13 years for Imee Marcos to grace our cover once more; it was definitely worth the wait.

Gracing the cover of our fashion issue is style icon Governor Imee Marcos, photographed by the wildly talented BJ Pascual. Discover her thoughts on growing up in the shadow of her parents, supporting Philippine designers, and the wisdom that comes with turning (believe it or not) 60.

Also in this issue: We also take a look at Filipino Design Now, Asia Society's New York tribute to the country's creative talents, and sit down with the legendary Auggie Cordero to learn more about the evolution of the Philippine fashion industry.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The cover shoot for the October issue was a treat for the Philippine Tatler team because not only were we finally able to breathe a little after the giant whirlwind that was the September issue, we were also shooting the ever charismatic Governor Imee Marcos. Our team assembled at the Makati Shangri-La as early as 12 noon to prepare the Manila function room. The scheduled start of the shoot was 2 PM, which was right when Marcos and her team arrived—on the dot.

Marcos was a joy to work with. From the make-up chair to in front of the camera, her bubbly personality infected the whole room. With all her energy, it was hard to believe that she would be turning 60 in just a few months. This issue marks Marcos’ third cover with Philippine Tatler, but it’s safe to say that she is now at her most radiant.
