Congratulations are in order for these newly-engaged couples—we can already hear the wedding bells! September is always a happy—albeit busy—time for us at Philippine Tatler. This year is even more special, because we are also sharing the happiness of three of our favourite couples:

1. JESSICA KIENLE AND JESSE MAXWELL

After dating for two and a half years, model/designer Jessica Kienle and businessman Jesse Ho Maxwell have decided to tie the knot. Maxwell popped the question on a spontaneous trip to Hong Kong. “It was just the two of us,” says Kienle. “It was a fun and romantic getaway weekend that unexpectedly changed my life forever! It was very special.” The couple has not yet finalised any plans for the ceremony, but they have already started brainstorming in earnest. “We are still working on the venue and the date,” the bride-to-be continues. “It will most likely be somewhere in the Philippines, and sometime next year. We are leaning towards a beach or garden setting.”

2. CRIS VILLONCO AND PAOLO VALDERRAMA

The other happy couple are theatre performer Cris Villonco and businessman Paolo Valderrama, who have been together since they were introduced by Valderrama’s sister two years ago. He popped the question when they were hanging out at his family home. “All of a sudden Paolo stands next to me and says, ‘You know how much I love you, right?’” Villonco recalls. “I thought he was going to tell me that he cheated or that he fought with somebody so I was just about ready to cry. Then he dropped down on one knee. I was in complete shock!” Villonco and Valderrama will be married within the first half of the year 2016.

3. MARIANA ZOBEL AND DANIEL ABOITIZ

And lastly, we can already hear bells ringing for Mariana Zobel and Danel Aboitiz, who recently got engaged. Mariana is the eldest daughter of Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and Lizzie Zobel, and Danel is the only child of shipping magnate Endika Aboitiz and artist Valeria Cavestany Aboitiz. Both are involved in their respective family businesses—he is the assistant vice president of Aboitiz Power, while she works in the project development side of Ayala Land, Inc. It’s a perfect match that is sure to lead to a happy union. To the couple, congratulations and may you have a long and happy life together!
