The ‘Madame Web’ star always makes a case for effortlessly chic fashion

Many viewers may not be thrilled about Madame Web, but there’s no denying that its top-billed star, Dakota Johnson, hits all the right marks when making a fashion statement.

From her iconic cameo in The Social Network, a blockbuster stint as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades franchise, a haunting performance in the remake of horror cult classic Suspiria, to hosting Saturday Night Live, Johnson always shows up in impeccable attire, be it on press tours or the street.

Daughter to Hollywood movie stars Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson and granddaughter to Tippi Herden, Dakota is no stranger to movie sets and premiers. Her boho-chic style has captured the eye of many and subsequently earned her multiple endorsements.

Johnson has never veered away from showing a bit of skin, but for this see-thru ensemble, the actress takes it up a notch, channelling equal parts sexy and chic. The intricate crystal-embellished Gucci creation leaves little to the imagination. She carefully pairs the statement gown with a simple diamond necklace for an extra flair of glamour.

2. Fifty shades of… black?

While Anna Wintour’s biggest pet peeve may be a head-to-toe black outfit, Johnson makes a case for it. On the left, the actress pulls off a sleek LBD paired well with her signature full bangs, beach waves and a classic black pump.

During a Gucci show in South Korea (middle photo), the Madame Web star dazzled in black by mixing different textures. Pairing a barely-there dress with a leather overcoat, Johnson mixes femme fatale with a bit of romance. She completes the look with the iconic Gucci Jackie purse.

On the right, the actress keeps things simple with what has now become her signature look: an oversized blazer perfectly complemented by wide-leg pants and a fitted top.

For her Daddio press tour, Johnson opted for a boho-chic theme. Strutting in one prairie dress after the other, she pulls off a relaxed, almost ethereal vibe throughout this press tour. For those looking for an effortlessly chic fashion peg, take a cue from Johnson - and as always, don’t forget to cap things off with your favourite purse as the actress does here with the Gucci Jackie once again.

For these two stunning looks, the actress brings old Hollywood into the modern era. Proving that white can still be eclectic, Johnson makes a statement with her two-piece ball gown by Brandon Maxwell. On the right, she keeps things sweet with an A-line ankle-length dress complemented well with a strappy sandal of the same colour.

Taking a cue from Britney Spears’s all-denim look, Johnson struts in a dark wash three-piece co-ord for a charity function. Denim ensembles may be complicated to pull off for most (unless you’re a country star), but the actress makes it look easy. Known for her love of oversized blazers, Johnson brings together a ‘model off-duty’ look by pairing a beige coat with leather pants, high-heeled boots, and a statement purse to bring it together.

6. Turning Red

Clad in Dior couture, Johnson showed up for the Suspiria screening at the 75th Venice Film Festival to the delight of her fans. Nothing says old Hollywood glamour like this gorgeous red gown styled simply with drop diamond earrings and red stilettos.

In another red ensemble, the actress wows at a Michael Kors store opening in Tokyo, Japan, donning a layered dress paired with a leather belt and black strappy sandals, creating a contrast between romantic and edgy—soft and hard lines.

7. Keeping it neutral

Want to look sophisticated? Neutrals are always an easy go-to. Johnson shows us a thing or two about keeping things exciting despite a simple colour palette. On the far left, the actress shines in a low-cut gown, keeping things sexy but not raunchy. Opting for no necklace, a braided hairdo, and simple earrings, the actress manages to pull off a revealing look without being over the top.

In the middle, Johnson made waves in a see-through bejewelled Gucci number, worn at the premiere of The Lost Daugther at the Venice Film Festival. Keeping to a neutral colour scheme, the actress opts for brown-toned make-up and, yet again, little to no jewellery, allowing her clothes to do the talking.

On the left, she pairs a beaded top with cream-coloured wide-leg pants—an interesting juxtaposition of contrasting textures, proving, as always, that she’s not afraid to take risks.
