These women love to hit the red carpet wearing designs not only by international but also local fashion talents.  Julie Boschi, Mons Romulo, and others speak about the Filipino designers they adore in this edition of Style File.

Julie Boschi

“I go for classic, timeless pieces as they have proven to be my most hard-working and most worn investments. I treat my clothes (which are usually in black and solid colours) as blank canvases and change their looks through accessories. Dresses, jumpsuits, suits, slim skirts, button-down shirts for work, and tunics for weekends. High heels in nude, black, and red from Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Louboutin, and Tod’s are my mainstays. Accessories expand my wardrobe and I am partial to elegant pearls, statement neckpieces, and eyewear by Linda Farrow. I like a great fit and I usually get that from DVF, Escada, Halston, Jil Sander, Rachael Roy, and Paul and Shark. Otherwise, I go the extra mile and see a tailor. I am also partial to creations of local talents such as Jun Escario, Vania Romoff, Joanna Preysler, Techie Hagedorn, as well as accessories by Mia Arcenas.”

“My closet houses a mix of local and foreign pieces, high street and designer items, mostly in black, white, and grey. I always choose pieces that can take me from a long day of meetings to cocktails. I find that I’m partial to streamlined shapes and silhouettes, and I’m drawn to brands that reflect the same aesthetics in their clothing and accessories. I’m a big fan of designers Phoebe Philo and Alexander Wang. My favourite local designers are Randy Ortiz, Rajo Laurel, Ivar Aseron.”

“My style is street chic and practical. I simply trust my instincts. My fashion style adapts to the present circumstances in my life. My husband is serving the government now so my dresses hew to a steady array of contemporary Filipiniana. However, I still adjust what I wear according to how I feel, how I'd like to feel, or how I'd like others to feel about me. My bureau is stocked with Betina, Filip-Inna, Paul Cabral, and Pepito Albert, with signature staples of pencil-cut skirts like Hérvé Léger and pencil-cut pants like Paige. My favourite accessory is my gold Breguet watch that my husband gave to me."

“I love looking polished so my closet is filled with pantsuits, shift dresses, button-down shirts and pencil skirts. I love classic pieces in a neutral palette that I can mix and match with high street, designer, or local labels. My favourite pieces include my Chanel Reissue 2.55 Flap bag, and my new everyday Givenchy Antigona bag. I believe in supporting local talents! I go to Martin Bautista, Ivar Aseron, Boom Sason, and SOFA Alumna Vania Romoff for one-off designs.

Mons Romulo

“I go for more classic styles so I can mix and match and wear them again and again. I really hardly have time to shop because of my very busy schedule, but when I’m abroad I never fail to visit COS, J. Crew and Gap. In Manila, some of my favourite shops are Karen Millen, Bench, Casadei, and Uniqlo! Another favourite of mine is Amarie, whose designs are by my classmate Anne Marie Saguil! I love that the brand features our local embroidery. Wearing her clothes make me proud to be Filipino!”
