Being out of the country does not mean one has to be out of touch with friends and family. When travelling abroad, having a reliable data connection is crucial, especially when navigating around an unfamiliar area or staying connected with family or business contacts. With her hectic lifestyle and four children to boot, Tessa Prieto-Valdes cannot be out of touch. An interior designer, writer, triathlete, host, philanthropist, home-maker and mother to four children—two of whom are living on their own, Tessa relies heavily on technology to accomplish daily tasks and be easily within virtual reach of family and friends, even when she is on vacation. With her Platinum Lifestyle Plan, jet-setting for a multi-tasking home-maker and mother is so much easier with a bevy of elite benefits and services that meets the luxury lifestyle and extends beyond Philippine shores. These include consumable roaming for calls and text messaging and a monthly allowance for unlimited data roaming—assuring a worry-free roaming experience with no bill shock. With this, even the in wilds of South Africa, where she and husband Dennis recently went on a safari trip, she was able to stay connected and easily share their experiences with friend, alongside keeping tabs on her household.

“We have been infected with the safari bug for several years now. The thrilling encounters with some of the most exciting things you can see on a game drive—predators on a kill and endangered species are just priceless!”

Tessa and Dennis’ six-day glamping safari was arranged by A2A Safaris. They chose camps with the highest chances of spotting the ‘big five’ game animals—the elephant, leopard, lion, rhinoceros and water buffalo, provided the best guides and had private game drive vehicles.

“Our first camp was Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, renowned for its exceptional sightings of the elusive cheetah and the rare black rhino, as well as the Big Five. 5. There were also a number of resident lion prides, and rangers cover miles of land to spot these animals.”

“With only six suites carved into the rocky hillside, we felt part of an elite tribe of rock dwellers suspended in a cozy hideout that offered complete seclusion from the world below. Our cliff-top suite provided an intimate and romantic space in a dramatic setting with an eagle’s eye view of the reserve.”

“We went on exciting game drives twice a day. Witnessing the circle of life just a few feet away from our vehicle is truly astonishing as God’s divine creatures roam the vastness of the wild. When the sun set, our ranger would pick an incredible sundowner spot making those end of the day drinks a highlight.”

The second camp site, the Singita Boulders Lodge, was an exclusive oasis in the beautiful and game-rich Greater Kruger area. “Here, glamping is equal to luxury in the wild. The high-end service, impeccable guiding, luxurious, airy rooms and gastronomic dishes with matching wine are above any other camp we have stayed in.”

“We got so close to nature and the African wildlife. The most dramatic scene was a pride of lions feasting over a baby giraffe with a lead tree filled with vultures waiting for their turn. The mother giraffe was just a few yards away searching for her baby hoping it wasn’t eaten.”

“Apart from the rhinos, the cheetah and her baby cubs were precious too. With Dennis’ cameras, we were able to capture so many priceless scenes. Other very special moment was when we spotted the black rhino from a far distance. The elusive and endangered species is extremely difficult to find.”

Priceless moments from Tessa and Dennis’ African safari adventure were almost immediately shared with loved-ones through the widest data roaming coverage of Globe. Its data roaming offer, Roam Surf, gives anyone traveling abroad full 24-hour mobile data connectivity with the 24-hour cycle starting only upon activation for just P599. Roam Surf is already built in the Platinum Lifestyle Plans so that customers who frequently travel are assured of a reliable connection.

“When we were outside the camps, it was easy to keep in touch with my family and friends. It was wonderful to share all my Instagram photos of our camps and the animals and the safari outfits I wore every day for a week!”

Globe boasts of 600 roaming partners in 117 countries, staying true to its promise of the world-widest coverage, allowing even the most adventurous of travelers like Tessa vital connection or simply access to information. Tessa’s Platinum Relationship Manager, JV Montinola, made sure that her connectivity experience was wonderful. “JV was always ready to assist us. We were also able to get access to the airport lounges and international concierge.”

The Platinum Lifestyle Plan perks extend beyond connectivity. Customers can enjoy travel privileges and comforts such as access to over 800 airport lounges both in the Philippines and abroad and ready access to international concierge services to assist with any concern—be it booking a restaurant, a hotel, or locating addresses—a huge help especially in countries where English is not so common.

Well in the throes of the safari bug, they plan to create even more safari memories soon. “We are already planning our return to the wild but this time, we will bring the kids."
