Three watering holes in the country make it big as they took a spot in the coveted Asia's 50 Best Bars

2019 proves to be a great, great year for The Back Room as it makes its first appearance in the list, placing 50th; this huge achievement only months after the bar has opened, and to no surprise. With its sleek interior and exclusive selection of spirits, this speakeasy easily became "the spot" to go to. A new kid on the block, but one to watch out for.

Another new entry in the list is the tiny watering hole in Poblacion, OTO. A huge feat for brothers/co-owners Martin and Miguel Ledesma who made the bar with music in mind, hence bestowing it with the name "oto" which means sound in Japanese. But don't get distracted by this speakeasy's turntables, amplifiers, speakers, and impressively big collection of vinyl records, because their spirits and cocktails are just as equally admirable.

Getting in the list proves to be a very challenging task, but staying in it is a whole different story. Now on its fourth year among the best of the best in Asia is The Curator Coffee & Cocktails. Though placing ranks below its previous spot (37th this year, compared to 25th in 2018), The Curator is still a constant favourite to dipsomaniacs and coffee-lovers. If you happen to enjoy both cocktails and coffee drinks, then you're definitely in for a treat.

Meanwhile, Singapore's The Old Man tops the list and is joined by other four Singaporian bars in the top 10.

The Asia’s 50 Best Bars list is compiled from the votes of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy, comprised of more than 200 drinks experts, including renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers and cocktail specialists from across Asia. View the full list here.
