One of the famed island’s best restaurants brings its fresh flavours to Manila by way of one of Makati’s hippest speakeasies

Those who miss the deliciously fresh and uniquely sustainable cuisine of Boracay are in for a treat throughout the month of July as island stalwart Nonie’s teams up with ABV Cocktail & Absinthe Bar in Bel-Air, Makati to give urbanites a delectable weekend dining experience.

ABV x Nonie’s Supper Club Series is on from 7 to 9pm on all Thursdays and Fridays of the month. The Supper Club event offers a six-course menu that features contemporary renditions of several classic Filipino dishes. Not to be missed are the chicken pork adobo with its crispy pork belly and turmeric-laced Cavite-style sarsa, bistek Tagalog made with beef brisket and served with seasonal greens, and a sweetly gluten-free strawberry and cashew cake. The Boozy Brunches, on the other hand, offer a relaxed and convivial start for Saturday mornings.

The three-course menu also has tasty yet healthy eating in mind with options like pineapple pandan pancakes, Nonie’s veg-friendly eggs Benedict with shiitake mushrooms, kesong puti cheesecake.  Both events also serve cocktails crafted by no less than 2018 Diageo World Class – Philippines bartending champ Lester Ligon, ABV’s master of mixology.

Aside from bringing island eats to the big city, the ABV x Nonie’s events are also a way to heighten awareness on the plight of Boracay’s restaurateurs who have been displaced by the mandated closure of the island – and also a way of whetting appetites for better things to come when Boracay reopens its shores come October 2018.
