Don’t save sparkling wine for special occasions. Have a glass whenever you feel like it!

If you have noticed, summer is fast approaching. Days are brighter and hotter, which means that cooling off with some bubbly could really do you some good. It’s a drink that has been much associated with celebrations and special occasions (rightfully so)…. But we think you should enjoy it whenever you want to! After all, why not?

Moet Chandon which is known for fine French champagnes, is where the brand originated. Its sister brand, Chandon (also owned by LVMH) was birthed because of a curiosity and desire to highlight the world’s best sparkling wines. Now, Chandon has done just that with: Chandon Sparkling Wine Maison!

What is the difference between champagne and sparkling wine you might ask? Well, geography. Literally.

Sparkling wines that are produced within the Champagne region are the only beverages that are allowed to use the name! In fact there are strict guidelines when it comes to producing Champagne, such as the grape variety and even the quantity that can be produced each season.

Fun fact: Chandon created its own method to produce sparkling wine, called the Chandon Method.

Outside of the Champagne area, any other place that also makes sparkling wine must come up with their own name for that  region’s or country's bubbly. From Italy you have Proseco, in Spain there is Cava, in Germany they have Sekt and also in France you will find Cremant. Each has their own unique characteristic that is born from varying soils, climates, and nutrients. Like with every wine, each sip can tell its drinker a lot about where it came from.

Thanks to Chandon’s desire to explore new terroirs, we are now able to taste more flavours of the world, treating our palettes to fresh experiences. The group has created three beautiful variations which are now available in the Philippines: Chandon Delice, Chandon Brut and Chandon Rose.

Fun fact: Chandon’s wineries now span four continents, with locations in Argentina, California, Brazil, Australia, China and India, making it the largest sparkling vineyard worldwide and the only domain on which the sun never sets.

Chandon Delice

Tatler Asia

Description:

Refreshing acidity meets delicious sweetness.

Composition:

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with late Semillon and Petit Manseng.

Drinking notes: Interestingly Chandon recommends that you drink Delice in a tumbler, with 2 ice cubes, plus a garnish for a twist of flavour. Typically when you pop some ice into your wine or bubbly, the French call it a la piscine and this is typically done during hot, sticky summer months. Instead of a highball glass, we suggest a beautiful goblet or a champagne flute, simply to make it more flirty.

Chandon Brut

Tatler Asia

Description:

Vibrant and elegant.

Composition:

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Chandon Rose

Tatler Asia

Description:

There are notes of strawberry, raspberry and red currant.

Composition:

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with some Malbec to give the bubbly its beautiful blush.
