This year’s selection has a total of 67 dining places—22 restaurants, 40 hawker stalls and five street food establishments
The Michelin Guide Singapore has revealed today the 2022 edition of its annual Bib Gourmand selection. Awarded to restaurants and eateries which offer value-for-money gourmet experiences, this year’s list comprises 67 Bib Gourmand locations—22 are restaurants, 40 are hawker stalls, and five are street food establishments.
“With this selection of newly awarded Bib Gourmand locations, we celebrate the dynamism of the local food industry, which has neither lost at all its passion, nor its quality of offerings,” shares Gwendal Poullennec, the international director of the Michelin Guide.
Nine of these are also new additions to the list. These include Indonesian restaurant Cumi Bali, which serves up authentic Indonesian dishes with homemade sauces and natural spices; Fool wine bar from the folks behind Cloudstreet and Kotuwa; and Unagi Tei restaurant, which offers unagi dishes sourced from Japan and grilled to smoky perfection.

The majority of this year’s Bib Gourmand selection are hawker stalls, which Poullennec states are part of the “very unique Singapore culture” that the inspectors explored with gusto. New names include Hai Nan Xing Zhou Beef Noodle, which is famed for its blanched rice noodles bathed in a thick gravy and soup noodles steeped in an ox bone broth; Kelantan Kway Chap Pig Organ Soup, which continues to draw cues for its kway chap studded with pork cuts and offal; and Lixin Teochew Fishball Noodles, which continues to shine with its handmade noodles tossed in chilli sauce and pork cracklings.
The announcement of the Bib Gourmand comes at a great time, when Covid-19 restrictions have been eased in Singapore and food lovers are able to continue supporting their favourite establishments. And, with borders now open, Poullennec hopes that local foodies and international travellers will find their perfect gem.
