Atelier Vivanda highlights unique vintages from some of the best wineries in Napa Valley, all handled by the Wagner family.

For decades, the Wagner family has been pushing viticulture and winemaking in Napa Valley to limitless possibilities. With its flagship vineyard, Caymus, being the only winery in the world to earn twice the highest accolade of Wine Spectator, the Wagners continues to proudly showcase its collection of wines that have reputation for quality and consistency.

Atelier Vivanda recently held an exclusive dinner highlighting some of the best vintages produced by Conundrum and Caymus wineries, both handled by Wagner Family of Wines, and had them paired with the restaurant’s succulent array of steak-frites dishes.

Ca’Secco Frizzante NV

Ca'Secco.jpg

Light and zesty, this refreshing frizzante white wine evokes hints of tropical flavours like pear, apples, and lemon. It does not overpower the palate, which makes it a perfect aperitif that goes perfectly well with pizza, shrimps, and oysters. This particular wine came from an unusual mix of grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Muscat.

The Ca’Momi estate where this wine came from is found in Napa Valley yet echoes the spirit of Italian wine heritage, thanks to its winemakers. Although it is famous for producing elegant vintages of Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc, the estate produces also Ca’Secco, the first ever Prosecco-style sparkling wine made in California.

Conundrum California White Wine 2013

A blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier, and Muscat, the Conundrum California White Wine 2013 has ripe and silky texture of tropical fruits with delicate hints of vanilla notes, honeysuckle, and melon. It has a beautiful sunny pale gold colour and soft, supple finish that makes it a perfect partner for spicy Asian dishes.

Conundrum California Red Wine 2012

Dark and nearly opaque cherry red in colour, this red blend has a touch of ripe red fruit, earth, and spice in its aroma. It also has a lovely woody element and a hint of dried blueberry on the nose. Its taste has just the perfect touch of sweetness of juicy ripened fruits with unique hints of dried fallen leaves, baking spice, and sandalwood cigar box. Definitely, it is perfect to pair with a hearty meat dish.

Caymus ‘Napa Valley’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Deep red and opulent in colour, this wine reflects the great growing season of Napa Valley in 2013. The wine opens with the vibrant scent of dark cherry and blackberry, subtly layered with warm notes of vanilla. The palate is an explosion of bright flavours balanced by cream in the middle, and eventually flourishes with chocolate notes.

Caymus ‘Special Selection’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Having a taste of this special vintage will make you fall in love with Napa Valley even more. Its rich and dense ruby colour already speaks for the wine’s opulent and velvety texture and complex aroma of black licorice, anise, and cream. On the palate, the wine opens up to reveal and earthiness, with brown spice, cigar box, and ripe dark fruits that linger throughout the extracted and long finish.
