New Review: Versus Barcade

June 27, 2018 | BY Philippine Tatler

Get nostalgic at Versus Barcade, a retro-themed hotspot where one can eat, drink, and play the night away

Versus Barcade is, in a nutshell, a haven for ’80s kids. Located at Uptown Parade, it is the first bar-arcade in the Philippines, boasting an array of arcade games alongside gastronomic menu offerings as well as speciality cocktails and mocktails. One may opt to get right into the swing of things and take on one of the many drinking challenges—just like in a videogame, difficulty levels range from easy to very hard—or take it easy with a bespoke drink and an appetiser to match. Others troop right into the game room, which is designed to look like an oldschool arcade straight out of a still from a Stranger Things episode. Button mash the night away with games such as Mario Kart, PacMan, Street Fighter, NBA Jam, Pinball, and more, all while grooving to the best beats of yesteryear.

As the head bartender, Loreen Hernandez is the one responsible behind some of Versus Barcade’s clever concoctions. She has been mixing drinks since 2011, manning the bar at establishments both here in the Philippines and in Macau before moving to Versus.
