Tatler Asia

Having six unique food stations, an internationally experienced chef de cuisine, and casual but chic ambience, Solaire Resort and Casino’s Food Court has innovated the usual quick-serve dining experience with a well-chosen and authentic menu.

Artful chandeliers hang from the high ceiling, contemporary paintings are perched on the walls, and some chaise lounge-type seats fill the area. This is definitely not your usual food court.

Philippine Tatler Dining toured the Food Court and discovered the distinct concept of each station. Serving tastes from select famous cuisines from all over the world, the Food Court provides guests and gamers alike an extraordinary approach to the traditional cafeteria set-up.

The name of every station speaks for its own offerings. Priced reasonably, the food selections highlight well-chosen dishes inspired by the featured nation's trademarks. "Money-wise and in terms of menu category, this is comfort food. There's nothing complicated and nothing hidden; we serve very simple but authentic selections," says the chef de cuisine Hisham Johari.

Sapporo, the Japanese station, offers noodles like stir-fried Yaki Udon, soup-based Spicy Miso Ramen, andDonburi Rice Bowls. Along with a variety of famous Japanese rice cake dessert mochi and drinks such as roseberry, sencha (simmered tea), and Asahi (Japanese-brand beer), Sapporo merges the foreign with the familiar.

Gourmands will enjoy the spicy and curry-based servings from the Pan Asian spot. The blend of tastes from different Asian countries is showcased on its menu, proven by Beef RendangKerala Chicken Curry, and Satay Club.

For Chinese staples, the Hong Kong station reveals a true-spirited and cultural adherence to its expansive cuisine. Dishes like Towcheong Meehoon (wok-fried vermicelli with chicken and shrimp in fermented bean paste) and Char Siew Bowl (Cantonese pork barbecue with Asian greens and jasmine rice) will not disappoint.

After the three stations that embraced the savoury treats from Asia, the next half brings palatable Western choices. True to its sumptuous chicken-inspired list, Chicken Licken serves classics that include Chicken Caesar Salad and Rotisserie Chicken with bacon mashed potatoes, a homemade roll, and garlic herb gravy. The blockbuster American station carries some Tex-Mex picks - Chilli Nachos, Pizza Slices, and Pulled Pork Sandwich. The last (but absolutely not the least) stop is the Patisserie section, where a quick grab of coffee options, pleasurable pastries, and decadent cakes comes readily available.

The challenge of catering remarkable flavours and competitive prices in one culinary centre has been taken by the horns by the chef de cuisine Johari and his team. Garnering a wonderful mix of excellent food, outstanding service, and accessibility to entertainment, Solaire's Food Court remains a most promising casual dining destination in Metro Manila.
