Distilled: The Macallan Fine & Rare Collection From Wing Hop Fung and More

Tatler Asia

The first, open for bidding today until the 19th of April, is called “Distilled: The Macallan Fine & Rare Collection From Wing Hop Fung and More”. It features over 300 lots including 30 bottles from the Macallan Fine & Rare Collection. Whiskey connoisseurs may recognise the name as one of the most coveted collectible whiskies on the market. With vintages stretching back to before the Second World War, the Fine & Rare Collection is composed of whiskey of undeniable quality.

For instance, in 2019, the Macallan Fine & Rare 60 Year Old 1926 garnered a whopping USD1.9 million at an auction in London.  This year, the Macallan Fine & Rare 56 Year Old 1945 is set to go on sale with an estimate of USD38,000 - USD50,000. Other bottles from between 1937 and 1972 will also be available.

The entire 30 bottle collection is available for bidding thanks to Wing Hop Fung, an Asian store in Los Angeles that offers the best in teas, ginseng, Asian delicacies, and fine wines and spirits. As per their report, all 30 bottles set to be auctioned were bought as a single set in 2005.

Outside the Macallan Fine & Rare Collection, spirits such as the The Macallan 50 Year Old in Lalique, The Macallan Lalique 72 Year Old Genesis Decanter, and the Black Bowmore and Bowmore Trilogy Collection are available. They will be auctioned off alongside  notable selections of Pappy Van Winkle, Colonel E.H. Taylor, Eagle Rare, Yamazaki, and Karuizawa.
