Proving to be a one-stop facility for chefs, restaurateurs, nutritionists, culinary institutions as well as food network and lifestyle shows, the Kessler’s Kitchen is a premium 360-degree solution

Perfecting the formula of a commercial food product? Conducting a demo on easy and nutritional recipes for super mums? Shooting an episode of “A Taste of Manila” for an international audience? There exists a handful of facilities and “studio” kitchens catering to this broad F&B space throughout the metro. But it’s good to know there’s a full-spectrum, state-of-the-art option that recently opened its doors, ready to service an already booming industry.

From major food processors to culinary schools, TV network cooking and lifestyle programs, and groups or individuals looking to organise or host food workshops, the multi-purpose facility that is Kessler’s Kitchen is set up and expertly designed for all of the above.

It was only a matter of time before a multi-purpose facility of this scale and high-end calibre came to be. ISO-certified HAMBURG Trading Corporation, founded by Horst Kessler von Sprengeisen, has been in the business of trade for five decades. Its Food Sales Department, which distributes cocoa powder, modified starches, glucose, polyols, dextrose, and caramel colouring, was established in 1998 and has since commercially expanded by leaps and bounds. Dovetailing its baseline trade, it was a natural progression to not only provide quality products, but quality services as well.

Shares Gianna Kessler von Sprengeisen, HAMBURG Trading Corporation’s VP of Marketing & PR, “Eighty per cent of our business is in the trade of raw food materials from Europe, US and Japan, distributing to the largest food manufactures and producers in the Philippines. We built this 200-square-metre facility to regularly invite the R&D of these firms to learn more about the new products we carry and share further information on how to apply these to the products which are sold locally and internationally.”

“As we have chosen only the best kitchen equipment and interiors from Europe and the US, and designed the space to a modern and sophisticated kitchen, we want to share this experience with others, and therefore, decided to have the space open for business,” she adds.

Located in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, the venue was co-designed with design firm ARCHION. The Kesslers contracted Tom Hines of Cebu's Ampersand and Manila's Smith Butcher and Grill Room fame to help curate the layout and up-to-the-minute equipment.

Kessler's Kitchen is divided into five key spaces; the hallway, main hall, prep area, display area, and the outer deck. Before entering the main hall, one is greeted with a two-toned black and copper-like reception, which doubles as a bar. The main hall, the heart of the concept, features an amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 40 persons combined with a workshop area that seats 24. The kitchen island boasts top-of-the-line cooking equipment, including a Rational oven, and world-class audio-visual equipment. A PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) ceiling camera connected to two 65-inch 4K LED televisions facing the amphitheatre seating allows for live cooking demos to project to rows at the back. Should you wish to record these, the Blackmagic 5” HD Video Assist provides the option. Add to this the strategically positioned Bose speakers and there you have the trappings of the best audio-visual experience one could offer.

Spilling over to the prep kitchen, which essentially serves as additional space, also houses large stainless tables, racks, and a miscellany of requisite kitchen equipment. The outer deck, meanwhile, complements the modern look of the entire building with its wooden tile-flooring and greenery. Lastly, the display area, which connects to both the main hall and outer deck, as the name suggests, is a bare shell ready to be dressed up in accordance to any and every event concept.

Though the space is viewed and marketed primarily as a kitchen, “We are very much geared towards culinary schools for courses and demos, production houses for TV commercials, corporate seminars or as a venue for privately catered events,” says Kessler von Sprengeisen, adding, “Our kitchen is open to everyone and anyone who wants to use a world-class space to discover innovative ideas, celebrate success and inspire new experiences. Knowing that our customers will be supportive, we will go all the way to fulfill their expectations.”
