A menu by the chef Gene Gonzalez guides the vision of three brothers whose beer and food venture makes up The Perfect Pint.

The brainchild of brothers Alec, Noel Jr., and Raymond Tempongko, The Perfect Pint was the adventure the three had been looking for. Being in the corporate world for so long, the newly opened gastro pub is the first venture of the brothers into the food industry where many concepts are a hit or miss.

With an arsenal of locally brewed craft beers sourced from microbreweries around the country, The Perfect Pint provides a relaxed venue for beer and food lovers alike. There is a welcoming warmth that basks the handcrafted designs seen in the wooden walls and the interesting typography, while details such as metal taps and lighting fixtures add a modern and industrial feel to the setting.

Backed by the renowned chef Gene Gonzalez and his team, the menu was designed with the beers in mind. Pale Ale, IPA, dark pilsen and even their own surprising homemade brews are just a few of the beers available on tap and in bottles. The Perfect Pint’s food items are made from scratch to ensure the quality of their freshness, and are open to pairings with the equally fresh local brews. Some suggested delectable pairings include the Stinky Pizza with Weizen, The Perfect Pint Burger with IPA or pale ale, truffle fries with Czech Weizen, and liver-wrapped bacon with dark lager. Even dessert deserves a beer. The freshly baked caramel S’mores go well with stout, dark pilsen or coffee flavoured beer.

“We are the five percent,” says Noel Tempongko, Jr. referring to the minority of small-scale breweries in the country.  Craft brewers, according to him, are the opposition to the slew of giant corporations monopolising the beverage industry. Their mission is to improve quality, not lower production costs. With no unnecessary additives, craft beers served at the gastro pub are purely organic.

Apart from promoting local products, another motivating factor of the Tempongko brothers is directly supporting the next generation of brewers. Katipunan Craft Ales, PivoPraha Corporation, Craftpoint Brewing Company, G Point and Fat Pauly’s are only a few of the growing number of local microbreweries that The Perfect Pint proudly endorses.

Looking to their clientele for inspiration, The Perfect Pint owners “want to tap into the growing segment who are becoming upwardly mobile,” pertaining to the younger working generation that has become more adventurous in terms of experiencing food and drink. Because The Perfect Pint serves only local craft beers, it also opens its doors to tourists who are both curious and thirsty to sample the best of the Filipino drinking culture.

Dine at The Perfect Pint on weekdays until May 31 for a special opening discount.
