Where To Drink: Makati Shangri-La's Botaniko Herbal Urban Lounge Is Your New Go-to This 2020
After the success of The Den, Makati Shangri-La Manila collaborates once again with Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc. for a fresh new pop-up concept that will be open to hungry and thirsty gastronomes until summer.
Hailing its name from a word that is synonymous to plants and nature's best offerings, Botaniko is a garden getaway outside Sage Bespoke Grill where one may take refuge in the midst of Makati central business district.
Right at the heart of one of the busiest cities in the metro, Botaniko is a safe and easily accessible escape from every day's hustle and bustle. Upon entering the lounge, Botaniko displays the work of colleague artisans who decorated the walls and furniture of the lounge to give it a calm yet stimulating vibe. On its chairs are pillows covered with hand-woven fabrics made by GREAT Women, a social enterprise dedicated in creating an enabling environment for the country’s women weavers.
The food and drinks are in line with the hotel's sustainability practices using locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. Botaniko recreates the mood and feel of a botanical garden, and uses the plants grown in the preparation of crafted concoctions and reinvented dishes.
In its four signature cocktails, Destileria Limtuaco brought forth its three leading concoctions. Take a sip of "Solitude", which is tequila-based concoction mixed with Manille Liqueur de Dalandan and a dash of orange cream. "Cucurosa Collins" is a gin cocktail with rose syrup, lemon, and cucumber soda. For drinkers who prefer candy-like mixes, order a glass of "Coral Club", a strawberry-infused vodka with citrus mix, strawberry syrup and egg white, and garnished with rosemary. Lastly, "Peppercorn Smash" is for those who'd like a stronger kick but with refreshing taste. It is black peppercorn infused gin with Manille Liqueur de Calamansi, basil, tanglad syrup, and calamansi slices.
There are also non-alcoholic drinks that anyone may be ordered by anyone: "Down by the Garden", "First of Spring", and "Gingpom". Take a bite of their delectable food options that are created by Sage Bespoke Grill's chef Sebastian Barcudes. Dishes include the US rib-eye sandwich, fried ube and camote with cashew cheese, seared blue marlin tacos, and many more.
