It has been an exciting year for the Philippine culinary scene and T.Dining's Best Restaurants Guide 2018 is here to accompany every foodie for the indulgent journey ahead

For 14 years, Philippine Tatler’s definitive guide to the country’s dynamic culinary scene has been on the shelf of every gourmand, oenophile and discerning sophisticate. This year, the Best Restaurants Guide (BRG) is back with a well-curated list of the Philippines’ best restaurants and bars, as well as must-try dining establishments and up and coming trends and products.

We bade adieu to some old fine dining favourites, which we will sorely miss, but we are also looking forward to a handful of establishments that are currently undergoing renovations and ought to be back in the game better than ever.

While we certainly enjoyed the months of sheer discovery, indulgence, and gluttony that go hand-in-hand with putting together this wonderful compendium of all things epicurean, we are also ecstatic to give you not only the best and premium dining experiences across the archipelago but, of course, also the new dining spots that have sprung up here and there in the past months.

The latest edition comprises reviews of 173 restaurants covering a diverse mix of cuisines including Huaiyang, Kaiseki, soul food, anthropological, Japanese and French fusion, modern Cantonese, Argentinian, progressive Chinese American, Peruvian, produce-driven, and more. For a quick and easy reference to the overall dining experinece at the establishments listed in this guide, each restaurant has been rated in four key areas—setting, food, wine, and service.

Besides the annual unveiling of the Top 20 restaurants, we added four speciality "Best Of Class" awards. It is with our reviewers and expert editorial panel that we arrived at these awardees, so recognised for their outstanding contributions. First, the Best New Chef award, which will be given to the individual who has taken the current dining scene by storm with his/her creativity, unique dining concept, and impeccable understanding of ingredients. Second, the Best Pastry Chef award will go to one such talent that has elevated the dessert and pastry field to new heights in the Filipino dining scene. Third, we will award the Best Cocktails to the bar whose impressive chemistry and reverence for the art of mixology has brought to the fore must-try signature cocktails. And lastly, we give utmost recognition to the Best New Restaurant of the year for its combined elements of an impressive menu, ambience, and impeccable service.

A round up of the top 10 wines of 2017 by esteemed wine critic, James Suckling, a review of No.3 London Dry and Ungava gins, and a list of some of the best local craft beers and where to find them. Moreover, we tried and tested the best third wave cafés in the metro and got up close and personal with some of Philippine Tatler’s culinary Gen T-lister influencers.
