Welcome to Foodie Finds! This is an article series by Tatler, chronicling where and what to order according to the food-obsessed.

I myself have never understood non-foodies. How can one not love flavours, spices, aromas and all the cultural nuances and memories that come with every bite? Dining is an experience meant to be savoured and is even more fun when shared with loved ones. Dining around a table means sharing, conversing, bonding and learning. A dish can tell you so much about a person, a culture, and a country. It speaks volumes of a nation's history and is an art-form on its own. Skilled hands are trained over years or are born out of pure passion and practice. Professional chefs and home cooks alike, from young stars to grandmothers, have been cooking up meals filled with emotion and have truly made us foodies, happy.

Through Foodie Finds, we ask our epicurean friends to share their favourites. In this feature, we tackle takeout and delivery. Hear what editor and lifestyle writer Alicia Colby Sy has to say. She shares her go-to shops for takeout here:

This is one of my favourite discoveries over the quarantine. It’s such a great find because of the range of delicious Chinese and Asian dishes on offer. Some of my favourites are curry beef tendon with baby kenchi; pork chop with vegetable rice, and Boo Pad Pong Karee (crab curry).

Simple and tasty Thai food prepared with fresh herbs from the chef’s own garden. Everything is presented elegantly in the takeout containers so you are assured that the dishes were thoughtfully prepared by caring hands. I enjoy their Thai spring rolls with wansoy dip, the beef penang and Pad Thai.

3. Not So Jewish Bakery

Bagels have always been one of my favourite carbs and these are made with sourdough which I love! It makes the texture just right. They are smaller than the usual bagels which makes them more justifiable to enjoy daily. The bagels I like to order are: plain, asiago/cheddar, cinnamon raisin, and everything bagels. I also enjoy her sourdough boules and challah bread which is available on select Fridays.

Another favourite find in 2020 is this noodle purveyor that has elevated all my house-made pastas to restaurant quality with freshly made noodles. I also love that they can be kept frozen. Try the tagliatelle, squid ink spaghetti and lasagna sheets!

Everyone needs a good Filipino panaderya and this is it! Look out for the special strawberry butter, orange marmalade, organic chicken liver patê, and cheese pimiento made by the owner’s equally talented sisters too! For bread, some of my favourites are: pan de sal, pan de coco, Spanish pan de sal and ube rolls.
