'World's best pastry chef' Dominique Ansel to open his first restaurant in Los Angeles

Chef Dominique Ansel, the inventor of the Cronut who was named the world's best pastry chef last week, has announced plans to open his first full restaurant in Los Angeles.
Ansel announced the news on his social media accounts, revealing that the project -- his biggest to date -- will feature both a full-service restaurant and bakery.
The restaurant will take up two floors at the sprawling retail and entertainment complex The Grove in Los Angeles and will feature outdoor terrace seating, a full bar, and open kitchens.
The bakery will take up the first floor and the restaurant will occupy the second floor.
The project is scheduled to open this fall. Details on the restaurant menu have yet to be revealed.
Ansel is best known worldwide for having invented the Cronut, a croissant-donut hybrid that has spawned copycats and still draws snaking lines at his bakeries around the world, four years after its debut. At the World's 50 Best Restaurants awards held in Melbourne last week, he took to the stage to accept the title of World's Best Pastry Chef.
Along with his eponymously named flagship bakery in New York and a sister location that serves desserts made-to-order, Ansel also has shops in London and Tokyo.
