As a staunch supporter of the arts, Rustan’s makes sure that the work and legend of one of Philippines’ most celebrated artists is never forgotten with the re-launching of Amorsolo: Love & Passion. The two-volume set published by Fernando C. Amorsolo Art Foundation Inc., delves deeper into the stories of the subjects behind the famous portraits, with Amorsolo’s daughter herself, Sylvia Amorsolo Lazo, recounting the memories behind each piece. A true genius of his time, Fernando Amorsolo was best known for his masterful illuminated (chiaroscuro) landscapes and portraits. Through his extensive work, Amorsolo helped form the Filipino national identity and nurture a sense of nationhood by celebrating our culture, traditions and Filipino ideals.
