The Netflix reality show Singapore Social is being binge-watched around the region and making headlines around the world. Love it or loathe it, everyone is talking about the show and its six principal characters.
Three of the show's stars are Gen.T honourees—two of them even met for the first time at a Gen.T event. Here's everything you need to know about three of the stars of Singapore Social.
Mae Tan
With nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram, Mae Tan is a sought-after fashion influencer. Unlike the majority of her peers, however, Tan also walks the walk outside of the social media bubble. As the creative manager of boutique Surrender, which offers an array of niche luxury and streetwear labels, she is a force to be reckoned with in Singapore's fashion scene. After her family's business bought the boutique, Tan has played a growing role in its retail arm, which also owns Japanese brand Christian Dada and distributes Off-White in a number of Asian markets.
"I want to see Singaporeans take more risks in terms of creativity, fashion and art," she says of her ultimate vision. "I hope to encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zones and approach fashion vivaciously.”
