More is more at these maximalist restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, where meals are served with a side of extra

Extra best describes these Kuala Lumpur restaurants in the best possible way because dining here transcends mere sustenance to a sensory journey through the extravagant and the opulent.

Lavish and bold in design, these restaurants have embraced maximalism unapologetically. From Peaches and Cream’s voluptuous decadent florals to Yaki Soul’s immersive kaleidoscope of colours, these establishments offer a unique feast for the eyes and the taste buds.

Apart from a visual experience, the design of these restaurants also reinforces the cuisine’s provenance, whether it's the intricacy of Peranakan heritage at RasaNya or the richness of Malay culture at De.Wan 1958.

Japanese restaurants tend to be biased towards the zen and minimalist, but not Yaki Soul on Jalan Mesui in Bukit Bintang.

Designed by Genius Loci, the modern Japanese izakaya’s interior is a stunning fusion of modernity and tradition, with a rich tapestry of warm woods and contemporary elements.

An elegant dining room provides a view into the bustling kitchen for an interactive dining experience, while a quartz sit-up bar offers a casual blend of dining and drinking. Private dining rooms done up in a soft sage colour palette cater to more intimate parties.
