During Tatler Philippines' previous online gathering, industrial designer Federica Elmo of Diesel Living talked about her recent collaboration with Scavolini and what's in store this 2021

Tatler Philippines and Modularity Home organised an intimate gathering over Zoom for partners and friends to talk about Scavolini's impressive line of kitchen collections made in collaboration with Diesel Living.

Established over a decade ago, Modularity Home focuses its core identity on cabinetry and living systems that began with kitchens—the heart of the home—but has now expanded into other areas as well such as bathrooms, bedrooms, walk-in closets, and more. The first brand Modularity Home brought to the Philippines was Scavolini and since then enamoured the Filipino clientele.

Scavolini is the biggest kitchen manufacturer in Italy and is deemed “Italy’s favourite kitchen”. With over 1,000 showrooms across the globe and with a multitude of kitchen models and living system solutions, Scavolini has established itself as the benchmark in the industry. What sets Scavolini apart from the others are their design collaborations with noteworthy designers all over the world—one of them being with the iconic Italian brand, Diesel Living.

Elmo, the Milan-based award-winning industrial designer, has been working in the industry since 2007. Her portfolio includes Diesel Living's collaboration with esteemed companies like Scavolini. Currently, she heads the design department of Diesel Living, and has worked on amazing kitchen and bathroom collections with Scavolini: the Diesel Social Kitchen, the Diesel Open Workshop, the Diesel Misfits, and launching this year is the Diesel Get Together Kitchen.

The collaboration, as Elmo narrated, began a year before they launched Diesel Social Kitchen in 2012. Having their teams' chemistry worked out first before diving into the projects helped Elmo and Scavolini to produce a stellar debut collection, the industrial designer said.

She mentioned that the important goal they have in mind was to translate their brands' individual DNAs into each piece. Also, the collection was perceived with the target clients' attitudes and habits in their mind. Another trait of the collaboration is the liberty it gives for the clients to mix and match through the collections' block style design. Moreover, Elmo said that because Diesel has been known as a renowned Italian fashion brand, the philosophy of producing furniture of premium aesthetic quality that communicates emotional reaction was also important to live up to.

The guests happily shared how they have been doing in the past year and how their kitchens transformed over the year in terms of the way they utilise it.

The importance of investing in a quality kitchen was highlighted, be it for a service kitchen or an open kitchen at home. Ultimately, everyone emphasised how the kitchen has increasingly become the centre of the home. It is where most families bond, share pleasurable moments and entertain their bubble of close friends.

With Scavolini, one can achieve these enhancements in the house with much attention to detail and reflection of one's personality. From the kitchen spaces to bathroom, bedroom, and living spaces, Scavolini can make one's dream home come to reality.
