The 1st Asia Choral Grand Prix took two years of preparations.  This was initiated by the Cultural Centre of the Philippines, the organizer of the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival, through meetings with the BICF and SIFC organizers which first took place in July 2017.  In September 2017, the partnership between the three festivals was forged through a signed Memorandum of Understanding.

The Organizing Committee of the Asia Choral Grand Prix shares its collective mission to elevate the overall quality and appreciation of the choral art, and inspire audiences and artists through choral music by uniting the outstanding festivals and competitions in Asia.

A jury of five internationally renowned adjudicators representing five continents will evaluate the competition. The jury is composed of the following: Werner Pfaff (Germany), Jason Max Ferdinand (US), Digna Guerra (Cuba), David Squire (New Zealand) and Mark Anthony Carpio (Philippines).

The next Asia Choral Grand Prix will be held in Indonesia in 2021 and in Singapore in 2023.
