No matter what K Pop group you stan, it's safe to say that everyone loves 'Jackson Wang from China'.

The GOT7 member, solo artist, and creative mind behind Team Wang has his hand in many honey pots. But back in 2010, Jackson Wang was a dedicated professional fencer training for the London Olympics. In an episode of the Get Real podcast, he shared that both his parents were professional athletes as well (his father was an Olympian fencer and his mother, an Olympian gymnast). So, joining JYP Entertainment in 2011 was definitely a leap of faith for him.

In 2014, he debuted as a member of GOT7. Alongside his activities with the group, Jackson simultaneously released several songs as a solo artist, including hits such as I Love You 3000 (which has a Chinese version), EDM track 100 ways, and hip-hop bop, Papillon. Besides being a multifaceted musician, Jackson is known to be quite involved in the production of his music videos and designing his clothing line under Team Wang Design.

In January 2021, Jackson—alongside all the other members of GOT7—officially left JYP Entertainment. Although they still remain together as a group, Jackson shared that each of them is taking the opportunity to pursue personal creative goals this year. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Jackson related that there's a lot in store for his fans as he's currently working on an album with around 10 pop/ R&B tracks. He is also part of Tatler Asia's Most Influential: The Culture List released early this year.

As we all await his new releases, we recap some of his most iconic music videos to date:

1. LMLY

This 80's inspired pop track is a definite bop! The catchy song is matched in equal measure by a beautiful music video. Inspired by 90's Hong Kong films, Jackson stars in this MV as a lovestruck dishwasher at a Chinese restaurant. A departure from his earlier videos, LMLY is a straight-up short film. So, if you're looking to see some iconic dance moves, you won't find it here. Nonetheless, it's a refreshing take and interpretation of the song—plus, it's a great showcase of Jackson's skills as an actor!

2. Pretty Please

Pretty Please similarly adapts a Wong Kar Wai -esque treatment, but this time, you get the best of both worlds as Jackson shows off a few signature dance moves in the latter half of the video. Following yet another lovestruck character, Jackson pursues a woman he falls in love with at first sight.

Tatler Tip: Make sure to watch till the end to see a few behind-the-scenes footage—including Jackson practising his dance moves.

3. 100 Ways

Featuring the same actress in Pretty Please, this music video is basically a historical Chinese drama with excellent choreography thrown in. Here, Jackson stars in an interpretation of Romeo and Juliet... if it were set in ancient China and Romeo had intricate dance moves up his sleeve.

4. Bullet to the Heart

At this point, you may have gathered that Jackson's music videos often have a filmic narrative and some sort of love story and Bullet to the Heart is no different. Although this time around, he plays a less charismatic character. The video features a man whose body is manipulated, much like a puppet, by a woman covered in a flowing black veil (think, Black Swan meets Wicked Witch of the West). The video perfectly encapsulates the song's lyrics which speaks about the difficulties of being caught in a possessive love.

5. Magnetic (ft. Rain)

Released early this month, this R&B track with K Pop legend Rain is a definite must-watch—it's basically a lot of charisma and sexiness in one video. This black and white MV features the two artists walking around an art gallery as they sing at the camera. If I were to gather a guess as to the meaning behind the video... it's probably that both Jackson and Rain are living, breathing works of art themselves, right?
