We break down all the new products unveiled at the Apple Spring Loaded 2021 event—including the iMac, iPad Pro, iPhone 12 in purple, AirTag and Apple TV4K, plus when you can get them in Hong Kong

Apple just unveiled a variety of new products during its Spring event on April 21 (Hong Kong time). Titled, "Spring Loaded", the event took place at the company's Apple Park headquarters in California. But due to the ongoing pandemic, it was a digital-only gathering with live coverage provided.

During the event, Apple announced a line-up of new products such as iMac in various colours, a new shiny purple iPhone 12, the latest iPad Pro, an upgraded Apple TV 4K and the new AirTag. Read on to find out more about the new features of the latest products and when you can get them.

1. iMac in various colours

The new iMac boasts stunning new colourways—green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver—as well as a much more compact and remarkably thin design thanks to the M1 chip. It's also packed with a powerful performance in a design that's just 11.5 millimetres thin. It features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness and over a billion colours that delivers a brilliant and vivid viewing experience.

Other new features include the 1080p FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality mics and a six-speaker sound system— all the best camera and audio ever in a Mac rolled into one device. For the first time ever, Touch ID comes to the iMac, which allows users to log in securely with ease, make purchases with Apple Pay or switch user profiles with the touch of a finger.

This new release also combines the power and performance of M1 with macOS Big Sur, offering faster app launching speeds, support for a faster and more fluid performance of everyday tasks, as well as the ability to handle demanding workloads like editing 4K video and working with huge images much more swiftly.

2. The new iPad Pro

The new iPad Pro promises to be the most powerful and advanced iPad Pro ever, pushing the limits of what's possible on an iPad, thanks to the addition of the Apple-designed M1 chip. It helps deliver a massive leap in performance, making the iPad Pro the fastest device of its kind.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro also includes a new Liquid Retina XDR display that brings extreme dynamic range to the device. It offers a stunning visual experience, complete with true-to-life details. It also now includes support for Thunderbolt and provide users with pro-level throughput for high-speed accessories.

A new feature that takes the spotlight is the all-new Ultra Wide front camera, which enables Centre Stage, a feature that automatically keeps users perfectly framed for even more engaged video calls.

3. iPhone 12 in purple

An all-new stunning purple finish for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini is now available. The new sleek colour accentuates the flat aluminium edges of iPhone 12 which perfectly colour-matched to the precision-milled black glass. Both iPhone 12 models also feature an advanced dual-camera system that delivers powerful computational photography features and the highest-quality video in a smartphone, complete with expansive edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR displays with OLED for a brighter, more immersive viewing experience.

The Ceramic Shield front cover also provide the biggest jump in durability ever on iPhone. Similar to other iPhone 12 models previously released, this one is also packed with the Apple-designed A14 Bionic—the fastest chip in a smartphone—powers every experience on iPhone 12 while efficiently managing battery life. As a whole, the latest iPhone model brings out the best 5G experience together with high-powered wireless charging with MagSafe.

4. The new Apple TV 4k

The next generation of Apple TV 4K delivers high frame rate HDR with Dolby Vision and helps connect users to their favourite content with the highest quality. At the heart of the new Apple TV is the A12 Bionic chip, specifically an Apple-designed chip that provides a significant boost in graphics performances, video decoding and audio processing.

Coming in an all-new design is the Siri Remote, which makes it easier to watch shows and movies on Apple TV with its intuitive navigation controls. Apple TV 4K and tvOS, dubbed by Apple as the most powerful TV operation system, work together to seamlessly integrate Apple devices and services to transform your living room into a place that the whole family will love.

5. AirTag

While the other products announced today are upgrades or new versions of previous models, the AirTag is a completely new drop. This small and elegantly designed accessory helps keep track of and find the items that matter most to you with the help of Apple's Find My app. You can attach the AirTag to a handbag, keys, backpack or other items.

AirTag works by tapping into the vast, global Find My network and helps locate a lost item, all while keeping location data private and anonymous with end-to-end encryption. AirTag is equipped with a U1 chip that uses Ultra Wideband technology which enables precise locating for iPhone 11 and 12 users. You will be guided to your lost item using a combination of sound through a built-in speaker, haptics and visual feedback through your phone.

Each round AirTag is small and lightweight and flaunts a precision-etched polished stainless steel that's IP67 water and dust resistant. It also has a removable cover that makes it easy for users to replace the battery. Users can assign AirTag to an item and name it with a default such as Keys or Jacket or chose a name of their own liking.

You can also personalise AirTag with a free engraving including text and a selection of 31 emoji when you purchase from apple.com or at the Apple Store app.
