Art in the Park Celebrates 10th Year
Exciting things await art enthusiasts at the 10th Art in the Park
From its humble beginnings in 2006, when there were only 12 galleries whose tents were sparsely scattered all over the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Art in the Park has become an annual spectacle, featuring 60 art galleries, collectives, and student groups in the fair. On April 3, Art in the Park marks its 10th year by reproducing signed limited edition prints from artists whose artworks have adorned the fair’s postcard invitations over the years.
To celebrate its 10 years of establishment, Art in the Park is going to feature a collection of postcard invitation prints by 10 artists, including Charlie Co, Rodel Tapaya, Marina Cruz, and Joy Mallari. Additionally, a special exhibit of wax sculptures by Daniel dela Cruz will also be displayed. The collection of four-feet tall sculptures depicts standing male figures, representing everyday Joes, intended to be set alight.
As in the years past, Art in the Park will be featuring a wide-ranging selection of artworks—paintings, photographs, pottery, scultures from galleries such as Silverlens, Art Lab, and Metro Gallery—at 40,000 pesos or below. Keeping the guests satisfied will be the assortment of food and refreshing drinks, as a dozen or so concessionaires such as 8 Cuts and Ñ y Patricia, headed by Notel dela Rama, a visiting chef from New York. Entertainment comes in the form of jazz music from Soulful Mood and the spirited playing of The Brat Pack.
Art in the Park is on April 3, 10AM to 10 PM at Jaime Velasquez Park, Salcedo Village, Makati
