If you’re on the hunt for bespoke furniture, swing by 910 Arnaiz Avenue in Makati for Artesania. The showroom is not only a place where different handcrafted pieces are displayed, it also doubles as a café called Caffeined which serves “elevated comfort food” using artisanal local produce and third-wave coffee.

While this integrated concept is not new to the market, what makes this showroom unique is the fact that if you eat at Caffeined, you can sit anywhere you want. That way, you get to experience Artesania’s pieces and put them to the test.

Artesania prides itself for being a fully-Filipino company. Seasoned craftspeople and artisans specialising in woodwork, metalwork, and rattan weaving create the pieces in the factory and workshop in Angono, Rizal. The shop also features other products (mostly accessories) from local makers and companies: ceramics by the sculptor Mia Casal; furnishings by Grit and Bevel (wood), Rada Collab (knit and marble), Marmol Stonework (marble), and NVC Foundation (recycled materials just to name a few. The space also promotes local art, with the painted works of Carmen Araneta, Tammy de Roca, and Luis Lopa currently on view.

Artesania also aims to do its part in promoting a sustainable industry. Through its internal initiatives with its carpenters, craftsmen, and artisans, the company wants to encourage them to pass on their skill to the next generation. Artesania has also parterned with Mano Amiga Philippines, where a part of the proceeds from furniture is donated to support and provide international standard education for students below the poverty line. Finally, for every two pieces of furniture made by Artesania, Haribon plants five seedlings of mahogany and gemolina into their nurseries.
