The event kicked off at the hotel lobby where General Manager and Vice-president for Operations Alfred Reyes formally cut the ceremonial ribbon, together with WorldHotels President for APAC Ronald Jegge; Mr Shalimar Hofer Tamano, Region 7 director of the Department of Tourism; and members of the bai Hotel Cebu board of directors. Guests were entranced by a whimsical prelude to lighting the Christmas tree, and then ushered up to the Lapu-Lapu Ballroom for the opening gala where attendees enjoyed a sumptuous grazing spread and the first-ever molecular dessert buffet in Cebu.

Entertainment was provided by local talent Morisette Amon and aerialists performing stunts on aerial silks. Occupying a 69,000-square metre lot, bai Hotel Cebu is considered the largest luxury establishment of its kind in the Central and Southern Philippines as it currently boasts of 668 rooms and suites, all of which are fully operational and ready for occupancy as of October 2018.
