With scorching temperature highs reaching 40 degrees Celsius take note of these #TatlerTips in order to beat the heat! Yes it is beautifully sunny and bright outside these days - perfect for the beach or laying out by the pool - but make sure you do not over do it under our fierce summer sun! Here are some useful things that you can do in order to cool off and freshen up during the extraordinarily hot and humid days coming our way.

1. Hydrate

Drinking a lot of water is a must as we sweat a lot more during the summer months. This means we become more dehydrated. Consuming water also helps to regulate your bodies core temperature, not to mention that it is really good for your skin and complexion too! Do not forget to bring your own tumbler!

2. Avoid Direct Sun

When the sun is at its peak – as tempting as it may be – avoid tanning or spending a lot of time under its direct rays. I know getting that perfect glowing tan is important, but try to avoid exerting yourself under intense heat, or spending too much time under the sun during peak hours in order to avoid excessive sun damage and over-heating.

3. Protection

When you are at the beach and when you are not at the beach, remember wear sun block with UVA and UVB in order to keep sun-spots, fine lines, sun damage and premature aging at bay. Protect your eyes too! Wearing sunglasses is very important, as looking directly at the sun is dangerous. Rocking you new shades will also give your outfit that much needed pop!

4. Haircare

Excessive heat can damage your hair. Exposure to too much chlorine can also cause damage. It can make your hair dry or limp, so remember to hydrate by using conditioner or oil. Try rubbing a small amount of coconut oil into your hair at the end of the day as often as you need it in order to nourish your luscious locks.

5. Sunburn

If you get sunburnt – moisturise in order to avoid peeling and to nourish your skin that has been burnt and dried out.

If you are spending a lot of time outdoors, avoid caffeine and alcohol as they cause dehydration.

Try this quick and easy tip! Wet a hand or face towel and then pop it in the fridge for a couple of hours. Grab one and give your face or body a wipe down for a super refreshing break.

9. Light colours

Wear more light and bright colours as they reflect the suns rays much more than dark tones do, and thus help keep you feeling a tad bit cooler.
