The Iranian Women’s Film Festival will open with a photo exhibit on the 4th of March, at 4:00pm entitled “Women In Iran”. Sahar Hassanzadeh will follow with a talk at the exhibit.
The film festival proper will be conducted from between March 4 to March 7, 2020. Screenings of Season of Narges, Five Star, Leila, and Painting Pool will be shown in consecutive order at 6:00pm, per day, at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde. While each of the films portray characters from various backgrounds, it can be said that all are an honest retelling of the plights of some women. Season of Narges by Negar Azarbayjani sheds light on the lack of organ donors in Iran, while Five Star by Mahshid Afsharzadeh gives us an inside look into a hotel cleaner’s life, which is rife with politics and hidden agenda. Dariush Mehrjui’s Leila follows its namesake character and her husband as they take on problems of marriage and conception. Painting Pool by Maziar Miri is the final film to be shown on the 7th of March and focuses on the familial relations between a disabled couple and their son.
One of CCP’s exhibitions would be "ALLEGORIES AND REALITIES Ofelia Gelvezon-Tequi: In Retrospect”, which will follow the thematic contexts and modes of art utilised by its eponymous artist throughout her career of five decades. The exhibit will run until May 24, 2020 and will offer guided tours on Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:00pm at the Bulwagang Juan Luna. In line with this, the Visual Arts Department will hold a roundtable discussion of women printmakers on March 4 at 3:00pm with the likes of Ofelia Gelvenzon-Tequi, Ambie Abano, Ivi Avellana-Cosio, Yas Doctor, and Imelda Cajipe-Endaya.
Another special exhibition taking place until March 15, 2020 is the "TERNOCON 2020 PORTRAITURE AND THE PHILIPPINE TERNO: Commissioned Paintings of Filipinas by Rafael del Casal" shown at the Pasilyo Vicente Manansala (2F Hallway Gallery).
Lastly, for a more interactive experience, the CCP will also be hosting a crystal making workshop on March 21, 2020 at 3:00pm. Samantha Feleo, whose works will be exhibited at CCP under the title of “The Horizon of Expectations” until March 22, 2020, will host said workshop at MKP Hall.
