We got to try Bonifacio High Street Cinemas’ new snow and rain effects—here’s what we thought of it

To launch Bonifacio High Street Cinemas’ new snow and rain features, we got to test these effects in a special screening of Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast. These technical innovations are designed to make the movie-going experience even more immersive, as guests can catch snowfall mid-air and bask in the romance of the rain.

The chairs heave up and down, roll side-to-side, pitch forward and backward just as Belle and company go about their way in the film. The technology also allows for the complete participation of the other senses through mist and rain, smoke and fog, gusts of wind, bubbles, various scents, and flashes of lightning.

These stimulating effects come in handy especially during the “Be Our Guest” number, bringing a thoroughly delightful sensory experience. Also, during those scenes where Maurice or Belle would wander in the woods, the 4DX effects kick in to mimic certain environmental elements—leading us to go through what the characters are feeling.

Since the seats have a tendency to move erratically in some instances (to match the movement on-screen), people who are prone to motion sickness would fare better in the regular cinemas of Bonifacio High Street.
