The global special will benefit the healthcare workers in the fight against the pandemic

Global Citizen and the World Health Organization have announced a one-of-a-kind benefit in support of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The ‘One World: Together At Home’ special will be  televised and screened around the world.

The historic broadcast will be hosted by an all-star line-up, including Jimmy Fallon of ‘The Tonight Show,’ Jimmy Kimmel of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and Stephen Colbert of ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.’

“As we honor and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, ‘One World: Together At Home’ aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19. Through music, entertainment and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s,” Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen said in a statement.

The benefit was curated in collaboration with Lady Gaga and will include performances by a laundry list of global artists, including Alanis Morissette, Billie Eilish, Chris Martin, David Beckham, Elton John, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Lizzo, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.

“The World Health Organization is committed to defeating the coronavirus pandemic with science and public health measures, and supporting the health workers who are on the frontlines of the response,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO. “We may have to be apart physically for a while, but we can still come together virtually to enjoy great music. The ‘One World: Together At Home’ concert represents a powerful show of solidarity against a common threat.”

Global Citizen is also currently calling on philanthropists, investors, changemakers, and foundation leaders to join in and help with immediate COVID-19 response efforts as part of the organisation’s Give While You Live effort, which goes to advances in vaccine development and stronger health systems worldwide.

The global special is set to stream live on Sunday, April 18 at 8:00am Manila time.
