Taking place during Museums and Galleries Month (October), the 11th ManilART highlights local talents making a name for themselves on the world-stage:

“Many of our home homegrown artists are making a mark globally at competitions and major international fairs. They help tell the story of the Filipino struggle to define our national identity,” shares ManilART Fair Director Tess Rayos Del Sol.

The highlight of the exhibit will be featured in the much-anticipated VIP Lounge. Here artists Susanito Sarnate and Anthony Palomo will team up—using their chosen medium (clay and terracotta sculptures for Sarnate and acrylic, oil, and watercolour for Palomo)—to create a series of masterpieces that will walk guests through the immersive experience of the overseas Filipino workers’ story.

Another exhibit will feature an amalgamation of artworks of different mediums made by ManilART curator and sculptor Danny Rayos del Sol, poet Riza Muyot, sculptor Agi Pagkatipunan, and painter-sculptor Kublai Millan. In pursuit of reaching a bigger audience, poems will be translated into different Filipino languages. In addition, a Q&A session with the acclaimed screenwriter and producer Moira Lang, of the award-winning film “Patay na si Jesus” (2016), will be held after the screening of the film. A live sketching session will also take place.

Encompassing a number of long-standing cultural and social issues, the exhibit will also tackle the staggering problem on global warming. A large-scale painting made by the decorated painter Romulo Galicano that focuses on climate change will be unveiled during the three-day art fair.

Other notable artists to look forward to are Ramon Orlina, Marge Organo, Kenneth Montegrande, Hermes Alegre, JP Pining, and Wilfredo Offemaria Jr.

ManilART will run from 9-13 October 2019, at the third level of SMX Convention Centre, SM Aura Premier, Taguig City.
