Spend those first few days of marital bliss in the unlikeliest of honeymoon destinations.

You know how Paris, Bora Bora, Hawaii and Florence are perfect for honeymoons, but have you considered exploring a different part of the world during your first few days as newlyweds? Philippine Tatler gives you a two-part narrative tour:

Argentina

If you’re looking to have an adventure through nature, Argentina has something beautiful to offer. Explore nature at its most powerful and majestic at Iguazu Falls, which stretches in a semi-circle for over three kilometres and marking the borders of Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. A ride on the Rainforest Ecological Train will bring you to the “Devil’s Throat,” where the precipice’s edge abruptly drops hundreds of metres below. From there, the footbridges will take you to other parts of the falls, and once you cross the Iguazu River, you can traverse the small islets that dot the body of water. Prepare for a surreal experience as the mist shrouding the mountains rises and envelopes you in a dewy embrace.

Antarctica

If you’re willing to hold off your wedding vacation for possibly the most interesting honeymoon experience ever, you can try Antarctica in the summer, which in this case is from mid-November to February. The while continent is reachable via Ushuaia in Argentina. Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the planet, and it offers a number of cruises to Antarctica. These tour packages include hiking and diving expeditions, which will open you up to the experience of being amongst polar creatures in the midst of the hulking icebergs. While the continent is known for its unforgiving climate, you cannot doubt the grandeur of it all.

New Zealand

For a much laid-back kind of adventure, New Zealand offers an exciting mix of cultural and pop cultural experience for you. Take a walk through the Shire when you go to Hobbiton, which is a 1,250-acre picturesque sheep farm with the Hobbit holes on the side. Experience the magic of the underground inside the Waitomo Caves, which is of the Maori people. As you descend, marvel at the limestone, stalagmite, and stalactite formations until you reach the 14 metre-tall “Cathedral.” Cross the Waitomo River in pitch dark and you will arrive at the Glowworm Grotto, where you will find bioluminescent worms lighting up the walls of the cave.
