June 1-2 | The Kundiman Party

Set in today’s unpredictable times, The Kundiman Party is a musical that tells the story of a retired singer, Maestra Adela Dolores, and her belief in and passion for the kundiman art song. The play forces each character to make an important decision in their lives. The play will have 3PM and 8PM performances at the PETA Theatre Centre on 1 and 2 June. For more information, visit

June 1 | MO_Space

A group art show curated by Wire Tuazon will be held at MO_Space’s Main Gallery while artist Juan Alcazaren will be exhibiting his works at Gallery 2 until 30 June. At MO_Space, Taguig City.

June 1 | Artinformal

Artists Nice Buenaventura, Cris Mora, and Mariano Ching each have a solo show at Artinformal’s Makati gallery. Exhibitions run until 29 June, at The Alley at Karrivin, Makati City.

June 7 | Uno High School Alumni Association Fundraising Concert

Joey G, with The Company (Moy Ortiz, Anne Quintos, Cecile Bautista, Sweet Plantado, and OJ Mariano) will hold a one night only fundraising concert for various beneficiaries of the Uno High School Alumni Association. At the Music Museum, San Juan City.

June 14 | Swan Lake

The world renowned Moscow Ballet “La Classique” with Bolshoi ballet stars Nina Kaptsova and Alexander Volchkov is set to perform a rendition of Swan Lake for Manila audiences. They will be accompanied by the Russian Symphony Orchestra. Until 22 June at the New Frontier Theatre, Quezon City.

June 15 | Vargas Museum

The Vargas Museum presents their fifth exhibition under their Art History Series. The exhibition, Revisiting the Conservative, presents paintings that feature the Philippine landscape from the 1940s to the 1970s and ends on 15 June. At the UP Vargas Museum, Quezon City.

June 14 to July 7 | Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

As part of its 20th anniversary season, Atlantis Theatrical Group presents a rendition of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. This jukebox musical tells the tale of legendary singer-songwriter Carole King from her days as a budding musician to her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The original production debuted in 2013 in San Francisco and has since made its way to Broadway, West End, and several worldwide tours.

Actress Kayla Rivera plays Carole King in this production, while Nick Varrichio plays Carole’s  husband and writing partner, Gerry Goffin. Married for nine years, the duo wrote over 20 hit songs including “Up on The Roof” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” and audiences can expect both songs to be performed in the musical along with other classics such as “One Fine Day,” “You’ve Got A Friend,” “Take Good Care of My Baby,” and “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling.”

Songstress Juris is slated to perform at the Newport Performing Arts Centre for a singlerun concert, accompanied by The Metro Music Orchestra, under the musical direction of Francis Concio. At Resorts World Manila, Pasay City.

June 20 to 30 | Virgin Labfest 15

The Cultural Centre of the Philippines celebrates the 15th anniversary of Virgin Labfest this year. Virgin Labfest (VLF) is an annual festival of 12 new short plays that have been untried, untested, and—most importantly—unstaged. Budding and seasoned playwrights alike have the opportunity to present new ideas to a live audience through this platform, including stories based on various themes, genres, and Philippine dialects. For its 15th run, the festival also expands to Cagayan de Oro in mid-July. The festival runs at CCP’s Little and Studio Theatres from 20 through 30 June. For more information, visit

June 28 | Finale Art File

Pete Jimenez will be holding a show at the Tall Gallery, while Jan Balquin and Ranelle Dial will be holding their own shows at the Upstairs Gallery and Video Room respectively, all until 25 July. At the Finale Art File Gallery, Makati City.

June 30 | The Boyz Live in Manila

One of South Korea’s rising pop groups, The Boyz, is holding their first ever Asia tour and is making a stop in Manila. The 12-member boy band will be performing at the New Frontier Theatre, Quezon City.
