Join live talks hosted by Lourd de Veyra, Mannix Abrera, Howie Severino, and other prominent personalities as they give us the 411 on Filipino creativity within their respective fields

The HABI Kalayaan Online Fair has been championing Filipino culture and heritage for years now. This 2021, they've migrated to an online space for shoppers to be able to support local businesses safely from home. But not only that, the HABI Kalayaan Online Fair is also presenting an exciting lineup of live talks to supplement their advocacy of loving local. 

Set to stream live over on their Facebook and Youtube pages are talks by some of the most exciting Filipino personalities out there. These include musician Lourd de Veyra, cartoonist Mannix Abrera, and journalist Howie Severino. All talks are set to take place between 12 June - 20 June 2021.

To kickstart the lineup of events, Lourd de Veyra discusses the importance of buying local with his talk All Buy Ourselves: Purchasing Local as an Act of Patriotism set to air on the 12th of June at 3:00pm. This will be followed by a fashionable discussion helmed by style icon Ditto Sandico and style director Raymond Villanueva. Both will give us an insider peek at the state of the local fashion industry, and will give us a few insights on the Philippines' rich weaving tradition. Join their talk, entitled Sale a Vie on 13 June at 5:00pm.

If you've ever been curious about the history of our noble baro't saya and barong tagalog, join cultural historian Dr. Fernando Zialcita as he takes us back through time with The Advent of National Costumes in the Philippines and Mexico via the Galleons. This is set to premiere at 2:00PM on 14 June 2021. Veteran journalist Howie Severino then sheds light on another exciting topic: baybayin! Learn about our ancient script and why this is an important cultural resource for every Filipino at his 7:00PM talk, Atin 'to! Baybayin Then and Now set to air on 16 June 2021.

Pet parents may be interested in learning about Dog Care Throughout Their Life Stages with Jennie Fajardo Peres of Pup Culture. This fur-tastic talk will be open for all come 11:00am on 17 June. This will be followed by a talk discussing the local comic industry with Mannix Abrera entitled Bulwagan ng Misteryo! Mga Kwentong Komix this 18 June a 3:00pm. 

On 19 June, fashion designer Victor Baguilat Jr. sheds light on the economic opportunities available to the indigenous women of Julongan village, as well as the fantastic properties of Ifugao weaves. His talk, Promoting Ifugao Weaving Through Social Enterprise will air at 5:00pm. Lastly, discover the healing properties of sound healing with Yeyette San Luis as she guides us through an afternoon wind-down with Music and Sound for Healing this 20 June at 3:00pm. 

Viewers may also catch Likhang HABI Kalayaan's edutainment videos. Here, audiences can explore everything from knitting to bamboo bikes and local antique shops. A special video on Kalinga's Whang-Od will also be shared, as well as a short galley tour through Intramuros with Miguel Lane.
