The second edition of Manila FAME for 2015 opens with a collection from German designer Detlef Klatt.

Inspired by the spirit of “gusto,” which translates to hearty or keen enjoyment, this edition of Manila FAME 2015 opens the doors to the "Manila Gusto Gallery: In Pursuit of Pleasure." The event will run from October 15 to 18 at the SMX Convention Centre.

The exhibit features a collection from Detlef Klatt, who has developed designs for the participating companies in collaboration with local artisans and craftsmen. The collection, which is composed of dinnerware, home accents, and holiday décor, complemented by select artisanal food products, is a bold expression of a life well lived. It infuses neo-baroque elements translated in black and white, with the occasional touch of gold.

While Klatt has designed the products to draw various emotional reactions, the classical elements in the setting bring all these items together in a cohesive line that the locals will appreciate. “Products with classical looks are seen as timeless, and people appreciate them as high-value,” he said. “It is normal to Filipinos because you see it your churches, in the curves and carved details in your furniture.”

Making things more interesting this edition is the fact that the Manila Gusto Gallery is a combined concept store and coffee shop. The bar is a place where guests can mingle with friends; the gallery is where they will find items that embody all the things that make life pleasurable; and finally, the concept store encourages guests to take home the pieces that remind them of life’s grandeur.
