While we’re spoiled for choice for staycations in the Philippines––there’s nothing quite like boarding a plane and escaping the daily grind. Since the pandemic has paused our travel plans for so long and now that travel may be on the cards in the not-so-distant future for us, we’re letting you know the most exclusive hotels to book––or just to add to your travel bucket list.

From private riads in Marrakech to sky-high suites in New York City, these are the very best hotel rooms and suites that money can buy. 

1. Empathy Suite, Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas

Known as the most expensive hotel room in the world, the Empathy Suite found at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas is priced at an eye-watering US$100,000 a night. Reservations need to be requested before official bookings can be confirmed, with a minimum of two nights required––or exclusively available for free only for guests with over US$1 million in credit at the casino resort.

Located on the 34th floor of the hotel, the two-storey suite was designed by renowned British artist Damien Hirst, and features several of his more prominent artworks––including "Winner/Loser", Hirst’s 2018 piece featuring two bull sharks suspended in formaldehyde.

The suite offers two master bedrooms and a cantilevered outdoor pool overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. The living spaces can fit over 50 people, with the suite also featuring massage rooms, a salt relaxation room, a gym, two bathrooms and a powder room.

Upon check-in to the Empathy Suite, guests can expect to receive 24-hour butler service, chauffeured car service and a private art tour of the hotel property––not to mention a $10,000 credit to use at the hotel.

Previously the most expensive hotel room in the world––before being knocked off the top spot after The Palm’s renovation––a night at the Royal Penthouse Suite at Geneva’s President Wilson Hotel will set you back US$80,000. 

The hotel itself houses 204 guest rooms and 22 suites, which have been decorated in contemporary style with elegant furnishings, along boasting views of Lake Geneva and the mountains beyond. The Royal Penthouse Suite is famous for being the largest hotel suite in Europe, and is regarded as one of the most luxurious hotel rooms in the world, attracting numerous celebrities and heads of state.

Taking up the entire eighth and top floor of the hotel, the suite offers no less than 12 luxury bedrooms, each complete with its own marble bathrooms and bath products by Hermès.

3. The Mark Penthouse, New York

Costing US$75,000 a night, The Mark Penthouse is the largest penthouse suite in the USA. The interior area is a spacious 10,000 square feet, with the 16th-floor suite also boasting a 2,500 square foot rooftop terrace overlooking Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and beyond.

Designed by French interior designer Jacques Grange, the lavishly-adorned penthouse is set out over the top two floors of The Mark Hotel and includes five bedrooms, four fireplaces, six bathrooms, two powder rooms and two wet bars. The 26-foot ceilinged living room can also be transformed into a full-sized Grand Ballroom.

Ranking as the fourth most expensive hotel suite on our list is Hong Kong’s very own Rosewood. Occupying the entire 57th floor of Rosewood Hong Kong, the Harbour House––the hotel’s Presidential Suite––spans over 12,000 square feet. Upon entering, a private elevator and dedicated foyer lead to the lavish five-bedroom suite, which comes complete with two outdoor lap pools, wraparound landscaped gardens and magnificent harbour views. 

Unapologetic opulence abounds, including lacquer cabinetry, a curated collection of contemporary artworks, expansive living and dining spaces, soaring ceilings and a circular soaking tub hewn from a single slab of marble.
