The lofty surrounds of the Main Theater at the Cultural Center of the Philippines will reverberate to the pianoforte brilliance of Italian Maestro Fermo Roscigno when he performs there on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 8:00 pm.
As soloist in the second part of the program,  Maestro Roscigno's performance of  Muzio Clementi’s Concerto in  C Major for Piano and Orchestra (Cadenzas by Fermo Roscigno) will have special interest for music aficionados since the piece will have its premiere in South East Asia that night. Incidentally, Maestro Roscigno will be playing on a Fazioli, the newly acquired Italian piano of the CCP and the first of its kind in the Philippines. Fazioli is considered by many musicians to be the finest piano today.

The elder brother of Italian  Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Rocigno (giving the occasion a neat local  touch), Maestro Roscigno  studied piano under the tutelage of Maestro Vincenzo Vitale at the Conservatorio di Musica di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He also attended the Specialist Courses in Italian Music in Venice.

His many performances have included recitals and concerts with orchestras in Italy (Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Trieste, Bari, Lecce, Bergamo, Arezzo, Matera) as well as in several countries: Malta, Yugoslavia, Hungary, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Russia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Lebanon, China.

Joining Maestro Roscigno on stage will be the much acclaimed Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO)  fresh from its hugely successful and highly lauded concert in New York's Carnegie Hall.   In the first part of the concert devoted entirely  to the PPO, the country's premier orchestra will play Luigi Cherubini’s Medea  Overture, Gioacchino Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra  Overture and  also showcase the music of well-known Filipino conductor/composer the late Redentor Romero’s Philippine Portraits.

Coming on board with their general support to make the concert possible are Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Rustan’s, Philippine Italian Association (PIA), Calata Corporation, and under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy to the Philippines and The Peninsula  Manila as the sponsoring hotel. The concert is also made possible through the organizing efforts of Dr. Raul Sunico, President of the CCP; Nedy Tantoco, President of the PIA and the PIA’s cultural committee headed by Silvana Diaz.
