The month of August brings exciting concerts, plays, and events to look forward to despite the rainy weather

The show must go on for Ariana Grande, who is set to push through with her Dangerous Woman Tour in Manila months after the terror attack that happened during her Manchester concert. This time, Filipino Arianators can expect the pop star to be more empowered and energised as she performs hits from her most recent release such as “Dangerous Woman,” “Into You,” “Side to Side,” “Let Me Love You,” “Moonlight,” and more.

The 24-year-old singer started with a role on Broadway followed by a television sitcom. Later, she pursued a musical career which catapulted her further into fame. She has released four albums since: Yours Truly, My Everything, Christmas & Chill, and her latest, Dangerous Woman. She has been honoured with three American Music Awards, an MTV Music Award, and three Grammy nominations. Catch Ariana Grande on 21 August at the Mall of Asia Arena.


West Side Story | August 10 to 27

Tony and Maria’s love story takes centre stage once more as the internationally acclaimed West Side Story tours Manila for the first time. Set in New York, the ’50s musical depicts a gang war between Jets and Sharks reminiscent of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Featuring an American cast—some of whom are Broadway veterans—the musical West Side Story stars Kevin Hack as Tony and Jenna Burns as Maria, choreography by Jerome Robbins, score by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, based on the book by Arthur Laurents. West Side Story runs from 10 to 27 August at The Theatre at Solaire.
