After much buzz surrounding the 9.2-hectare fountain that is reported to take up a third of the property’s land area, Okada Manila has finally unveiled the world’s largest multi-colour dancing water fountain in a spectacular show of lights and sounds.
Before the programme begins, the peaceful fountain takes the appearance of a manmade lake from the ground. Not long now the 739 water nozzles (including fountain developer WET’s proprietary underwater bots), 2,611 coloured lights, and 23 speakers will work together to create a sensory experience like no other. The wide expanse is situated in the middle of the 800-metre long Crystal Corridor, which goes all the way round the perimetre.
A stage is set up on one side, where the performers are set to usher in the celebration. The host, Pia Wurtzbach, welcomes the guests with a charming monologue about what’s in store for the night and the days to come. Then, the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and Gerphil Flores serenades the crowd with classical favourites, concluding with a climactic performance of Luciano Pavarotti’s Nessum Dorma where guests are treated to a first taste of The Fountain’s water and light choreography. Finally, the main event comes in the form of Robin Thicke, who brings the crown to their feet with his hits.
As if that’s not enough, the show-stopping performance is followed by another showcase of The Fountain’s power, set to the tune of Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain, no less. At the centre of the lake, water jets soar high, allowing for the projection of abstract videos from two sides. After the water show, the fireworks come in to further bedazzle the crowd.
With the aim of joining the ranks of Manila’s most iconic landmarks, Okada Manila’s The Fountain show is available to guests of all ages for free. Accompanying this are two other immersive shows: LED Mapping and World of Wonders.
