FASHION MASKS

Stand out in a sea of blue-toned surgical masks with fashion masks in different colours and designs. To easily spot you too!

WEBINARS

Virtual seminars— from investments to howto’s— are being offered left and right by experts, and people are simply lapping it all up.

ZOOM

If you have not joined one, you are a recluse to the core. Zoom is the leading video communications application for conveniently connecting with everyone—family, work, school, friends. It even spawned a new word: Zoombombing, the inevitable and unwanted disruption during Zoom calls.

AVERAGE 2,000 NEW CASES

In November, new Covid-19 cases seemed to be settling down to a daily average of between 2,000 to 2,500. Still a high number that hopefully we can lower by following the rules.

PIVOT

A buzzword to mean a business change, which companies hit by the vitiating effects of the pandemic had to make in order to survive.

ONLINE COURSES

Venerable institutions have offered online courses to the delight of students and non-students alike—and from all ages at that—who would not have been able to take them in an actual classroom scenario.

VIRTUAL CONCERTS /TOURS

Without a stage and a live audience, artists from across the globe resorted to virtual events and programmes, to the delight of their home-bound fans.

PLANTITO/ PLANTITA

Young and old alike who discovered their green thumb while stuck at home, posting photos of their plants whether for business or just decor. And the new term is gender-specific too!

QUARANTINI

A special cocktail enjoyed during isolation, concocted using easy recipes and ingredients already in your home bar or kitchen. Cheers!

TIKTOK CHALLENGES

Video sharing social networking service hitting the internet by storm, like a cure to quarantine boredom. Dance, lip-sync, crack a joke, share a trivia—bring out your inner celebrity in 15 to 60 seconds.

ONLINE SHOPPING

With shopping still a risky option sans a vaccine, mall-crazy Filipinos turned to do surfing online for everything they need—to which e-tailers are just more than happy to oblige by offering unique services.

HOMEPRENEURS

They may never have had a business but the pandemic led them to start one based on their skill—be it baking or home-cooked dishes—to add a pretty penny to the family coffers.

VIBER COMMUNITY

Suddenly, virtual communities have become alive, dishing out practical info like the latest Covid-19 news or who’s selling what. You can even borrow a tire jack for your car. Don’t go solo; meet your neighbour!

NEW NORMAL

The pandemic has redefined how life is going to be lived from hereon in, with or without a vaccine, a definition hinged on health.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Two words never to be taken lightly. Remember: it is six-feet distance, not less, from the next person near to you.

QUARANTINE 15

Are those extra 15 pounds already showing in the mirror? Did you think all those delicious treats you ordered online come with zero calories? Just weigh (no pun intended) the pros and cons between binging and eating, snacking and gorging.

402,820 RECOVERIES

The number of Covid-19 recoveries in November indicates an impressive constant rise, thanks to our beloved frontliners.

WFH

Acronym for work-from-home, part of the New Normal, with a lot of Zoom involved, after which you may go back to being a Plantito or a Plantita and even do a TikTok challenge.
