1. When Harry Met Sally

Many claim that Rob Reiner's When Harry Met Sally might just be one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time. If you want to laugh—or nod—at the truths portrayed in unusual rom-com like this, then When Harry Met Sally needs to be on top of your movie list for Valentine's Day.

2. Crazy Rich Asians

History was made when Kevin Kwan's book Crazy Rich Asians was made into a movie, especially for Asian representation in Hollywood. Apart from the extravagance and iconic scenes, the movie centres on the family dynamic and love. This relatable movie is sure to be anyone's favourite rom-com, especially during Valentine's Day!

3. Love, Actually

Eight different couples, eight different approaches to love. Accompany each couple as they deal with romance just a month before Christmas. Technically, Love, Actually is a Christmas movie; but who says you can't rewatch it just to get to the scene where Andrew Lincoln holds out large cards out in the snow?

4. How To Be Single

This rom-com is for single people. Based on Liz Tuccilo's novel with the same name, How To Be Single is a great movie to watch with your best friends. Because love isn't just something you share with a romantic partner.

5. Plus One

Another movie that deals with friends and a lot with friend zones is Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer's Plus One. Interestingly, the film follows two long-time friends who agreed to attend their mutual friends' weddings. Whether you've found yourself in the same situation or always wondered what it's like to have your go-to plus-one, you'll definitely want to see this romantic comedy. And did I mention rom-com leading lady in the 90's Meg Ryan's son is one of the lead stars?

6. The Half Of It

Technology makes it easier for us to connect to the people we love, just as it makes it easy for us to hide behind the screen. This is why it's effortless for Ellie to help Paul chat with a girl he likes online. And yes, you called it: Ellie will unexpectedly fall in-love amid the process. But no, not with Paul.

7. The Proposal

A boss just forced her young assistant into marriage in exchange for a green card—and it's a hilarious adventure you'd love to watch unfold. The tables will turn and we'll see that there's more behind Sandra Bullock's pushy, unlikeable facade at work.

8. You've Got Mail

These store rivals fail to realise that the one they're in love with is the person they've been mailing through the internet. This is absolutely one of those tear-jerking rom-coms you'll want to watch over and over again.

9. The Big Sick

Based on Kumail Nanjiani's real-life courtship hurdles with his wife Emily V. Gordon, The Big Sick hilariously shows how two people must overcome cultural differences. To make things even more interesting, Kumail ends up bonding with his girlfriend's family while she's fallen into a coma.

10. Crazy, Stupid, Love

Cal is forced to divorce his high school sweetheart and ends up moping around in a bar which caught smooth-talker and a local at the bar Jacob's attention. He transforms Cal into an utterly different person—almost like him—to move on. But soon you'll see that these different individuals of different ages will fall into a chaotic entanglement all because of one thing: love.

11. Enchanted

A good Disney rom-com is a great choice for when you want to include the kids in the fun! And Enchanted is just the right movie to play. Because apart from the kid-friendly magical themes is a heart-warming love story between two people from very different worlds.

12. 10 Things I hate About You

Inspired by Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew comes this contemporary rom-com set in high school. The legendary Heath Ledger sends us grinning from ear to ear in that scene where he serenades Kat while trying to get away from the school guards.
