Take A Look At The Bulgari Residences Shanghai
August 16, 2017 | BY Philippine Tatler
Set to open in late 2017, Bulgari Residences Shanghai promises to take luxury city living to a new level
Bulgari made its first foray into property development in 2004 with the Bulgari Hotel in Milan. Since then, it has set up extravagant outposts in London and Bali, with upcoming openings in Beijing, Shanghai, and Dubai in 2017, and in Moscow two years later. All of the properties bring Bulgari’s distinct flair for Italian luxury together with local sensibilities to create a unique experience for guests and residents alike.
In this story, we’ll show you around what will be Bulgari Residences Shanghai, which is set to open later this year along with the earlier announced Bulgari Hotel.
The building is being completed inside a riverside metropolitan complex development in Jing’an District, a protected heritage zone bordering the Suzhou River and overlooking the Bund and Huangpu River. The property will overlook the Pudong skyline, the financial district of Shanghai. Called Suhe Creek, this district is dubbed as the “Gold Strand of Shanghai” for its flourishing arts scene.
Bulgari Residences will be comprised of 243 apartments distributed in 27 levels between floors 4 and 32 of the building. Apartments will range from one to three bedrooms, with sizes from 146 square to 256 square metres. Meanwhile, the penthouse on the 32nd floor will be 256 square metres in size.
As residents, guests will have privileged access to all the services of the Bulgari Hotel like the fitness centre, spa with 25 metre long swimming pool, and the lady’s hairdresser and gentleman’s barber shop. Dining options, meanwhile, will include the signature Bulgari Ristorante and Bar on the top floor, a bar on the roof top terrace, and the crown jewel: an exclusive Chinese fine dining restaurant hosted in the former Chinese Chamber of Commerce building. The structure will be restored to its former glory and will host a large banquet hall.
Residents will also get to enjoy valet parking, concierge, housekeeping, security, landscaping, and a plethora of exclusive services including art curator, personal shopper, hotel butler, hotel spa personal trainer, hotel chefs private dining, hotel wine sommelier, florist, and image / PR consultant.
Bulgari has partnered with Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Interiors for the design of all of its properties so far, and the Shanghai project will offer contemporary aesthetic fused with the brand’s signature style in all areas.
The lobby will be decked out in Navona travertine, black granite, and marmorino walls—elements common in Bulgari projects. At the heart of this area, a custom-made Bulgari star-shaped chandelier will hang from the coffered ceiling, with the eight-point star adorning the floor directly beneath.
At the side of the lobby will be the library lounge, whose décor will echo that of the apartments: carpeted floors, walls covered in wallpaper, and an illuminated coffered ceiling. Large bookshelves will tower over the leather armchairs and sofas.
Connecting the two previous spaces will be the communication area which leads to the hotel and residences’ lifts. This part will be decorated with travertine marble, black granite, and bronze detailing.
The corridors leading to the individual apartments will be subdivided into rooms and treated as if they were private vestibules, where the entrance doors are positioned discreetly and not immediately visible from access areas.
The apartments, meanwhile, will come in three different mood and colour schemes: dark, grey, and light. The dark scheme will accompany the larger units, boasting of oak, black lacquered, boiseries, silk wall coverings, and bronze detailing on the ceilings. The bathrooms will follow the classic style of Bulgari hotels with floors in black granite and walls in travertine marble with black granite inserts. The grey scheme will have grey oak flooring. In the bathrooms the travertine marble will be replaced with Carrara marble. Finally, the light scheme for the one-bedroom units will have light oak floors and brushed white oak boiseries. Bathrooms will employ black granite flooring with travertine marble and black granite inserts on the walls, as in the dark scheme. (Scroll through to get a glimpse of the units)
Buyer can opt to have the unit fully furnished, with the furniture selected by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Interiors. The kitchen, the wardrobes, and the walk-in closet of the residences have been custom designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Interiors. Interiors include brands such as B&B Italia, Maxalto and Flexform.
