Tatler Checks Into… The Auhana Boracay
Boracay — the ultimate tropical destination in the Philippines. Now reopened and held to strong environmental regulations, the beautiful island once again welcomes guests to a lush paradise and pristine shores. One of the newest properties to rise here is The Auhana, a five-star luxury property that showcases colonial-style architecture, a massive land area, various amenities, and personalised service.
Philippine Tatler got to visit The Auhana Boracay and explore the seven-hectare resort during its soft opening. The carefully curated property is home to 500 rooms with 11 iterations. From Deluxe rooms, beach-front villas, to the lavish Presidential Suite — there’s a variety of accommodations for every type of traveller.
Service is impeccable. The moment we arrived at the Caticlan airport, The Auhana team welcomed us with warm smiles and a helping hand. The transfer to the jetty port can get quite hectic, but with the resort’s crew assisting us, we found our way to The Auhana speedboat with much ease. The cordial service proved to be characteristic of our entire stay in the resort.
The property is exceptionally spacious. Those who are familiar with Boracay know that there are many hotels to choose from, but what sets The Auhana apart is its incredibly vast enclave. This lends a certain ease for any traveller who appreciates personal space but enjoys a variety of in-house amenities.
Family Comes First
The Auhana has the efficiency of a corporate property but the feel of a luxurious vacation home. The interior design alone is reflective of an incredible eye for detail and value for privacy. There’s no hearing your neighbour with well-spaced rooms and expansive hallways. Those travelling with kids will find the resort much to their liking and comfort. With a huge playground, a separate kid’s pool, and many pocket gardens across the property, your little one will have much to explore and enjoy during your stay.
Tatler Tip: Golf carts are readily available for guests to traverse the resort with comfort.
Home Sweet Home
After exploring Boracay, there’s nothing like coming back to the comfort of a beautiful room. The Auhana has several varieties, all of which boast lush furnishings, an elegant colour palette (the mix of wood and tropical colours make for an awfully relaxing atmosphere), an opulent bathroom, and world-class bed arrangements. Not to mention, a roomy balcony equipped with a drying rack and lounge area is the perfect perk for beach bums!
The Premier rooms (their basic accommodation) is remarkably spacious at 50sqm. However, If you’re looking for a larger space for the family or an ample group, the 186sqm Family Suite is recommended. With an indulgent living area, its own kitchenette, and two bedrooms, it’ll surely feel like a home away from home.
For those who want to maximise their Boracay getaway, the 332sqm Presidential Suite is luxury personified. A ten-seater banquet table in the living area makes it quite easy to imagine the whole family gathering together for a well-appointed meal.
Boracay in A New Light
The picturesque island is known for its powder-like sand and an inimitable view of the Sulu Sea. To get to White Beach, The Auhana houses an ancient tunnel pathway which is said to have been built by the indigenous residents of the region — a nod to the island’s rich cultural heritage.
The resort is perfectly situated at the tail-end of Station 3; a beach front that offers less of a crowd and a 330-metre stretch of sand. Here, guests can easily access Boracay's welcoming cerulean waters or take a walk to Station 2, where various restaurants and bars await. Travellers might also be delighted to know that guests have access to The Auhana’s own speedboat when exploring the neighbouring islands and destinations. A van is also readily available for those who want to explore the island itself.
Celebrations and Get Togethers
There’s no wanting for exceptional dining here. With the buffet at All Day Dining managed by the hotel’s well-equipped F&B staff, each meal combines the best of local and international produce. Make sure to try out their exceptional seafood offerings and take on local cuisine. Those looking to drink the evening away (with a view of the Boracay sunset, no less), the Lobby Lounge is a perfect place to unwind with friends.
With such a vast property, The Auhana can host parties, events, and weddings with no sweat. The Chapel of All Blessed is the stuff of daydreams. Nestled at the tip of the property, it’s floor-to-ceiling windows effortlessly welcome the picturesque sunlight and view of the sea. For a more formal business gathering, a sophisticated VIP area awaits.
The Auhana resort is truly not one to miss. It has much to offer visitors who want to enjoy the island with utmost luxury and relaxation. The resort’s full beauty is best explored with friends and loved ones, all of whom will find something to love in this property built to welcome guests from all-over the world. It's easy to say that our stay was one for the books.
A Filipino take on the Polynesian term, ohana (meaning family), The Auhana Boracay carefully weaves all the elements of hospitality to create exceptional memories for you and your loved ones. So, if you enjoy the exclusivity of a five-star destination yet want access to night life, various island activities, and a sundry of dining gems, The Auhana is the best place to stay in Boracay.
